Full Job Description
Westgate Resorts is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead all engineering, facilities maintenance, and property operations at our resort in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with strong technical expertise, financial acumen, and a demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams in hospitality, resort, hotel, facilities management, or commercial property environments. This role requires exceptional communication, problem-solving, project management, and leadership skills to ensure operational excellence and outstanding guest satisfaction.

What you will do:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for all engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations throughout the resort.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and mentor engineering team members while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance, facility reliability, and asset longevity.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, pool, grounds, and life safety systems.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, capital reserve plans, expense forecasting, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Lead capital improvement and renovation projects from planning through completion while ensuring quality, budget, and timeline objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, safety regulations, and applicable building codes.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring service quality, contract compliance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory management, and proper utilization of department tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Utilize HotSOS and maintenance management systems to track work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and operational performance.
  • Conduct property inspections to identify risks, deficiencies, and opportunities for preventive or corrective action.
  • Support maintenance and repair activities as needed to ensure uninterrupted resort operations.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, team members, vendors, and leadership through written, verbal, and electronic communication.
  • Respond to emergencies and operational issues while ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on resort operations.
  • Support engineering operations across multiple resort properties when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by resort leadership.


Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering, facilities management, or maintenance leadership experience in a resort, hotel, hospitality, or commercial property environment.
  • Experience managing building systems, preventive maintenance programs, capital projects, and operational budgets.
  • Knowledge of resort operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pools, landscaping, laundry facilities, and building infrastructure.
  • Experience using CMMS, maintenance management software, or HotSOS preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering operations, facilities maintenance, and building systems management.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and O&M manuals.
  • Experience managing capital projects, budgets, vendor relationships, and maintenance programs.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, maintenance software, mobile technology, and digital work order systems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and perform effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and exceptional guest service.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA certification preferred.
  • Trade licenses or certifications in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, or related disciplines preferred.
