Description

SAIC has an immediate need for aChief Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex engineering programs. This hybrid role combines the strategic responsibilities of a Chief Engineer with the technical rigor of Systems Engineering, ensuring that products and systems are architected, developed, integrated, and delivered to meet customer, business, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Chief Engineer Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for assigned programs and products.
  • Establish and maintain the overall technical vision, architecture, and engineering strategy.
  • Lead technical decision-making across hardware, software, systems, and integration disciplines.
  • Drive resolution of critical technical issues and risks.
  • Ensure engineering activities align with business objectives, customer expectations, and contractual requirements.
  • Chair technical reviews, design reviews, and engineering governance boards.
  • Mentor senior engineers and cultivate a culture of technical excellence.
  • Support business development efforts, proposal activities, and customer engagements.
  • Represent the organization during customer meetings, technical reviews, and audits.

Systems Engineering Responsibilities
  • Lead requirements development, decomposition, allocation, and traceability activities.
  • Define and maintain system architectures, interfaces, and technical baselines.
  • Develop and oversee Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs).
  • Perform trade studies, system analyses, and technical evaluations.
  • Manage verification, validation, integration, and test strategies.
  • Conduct system performance assessments and ensure compliance with stakeholder requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Support configuration management, risk management, and technical planning activities.
  • Ensure adherence to systems engineering standards and best practices.

Qualifications

Required Education:
  • BS degree and eighteen (18) years of engineering experience with progressive technical leadership responsibilities.

Required Skills:
  • Experience as a Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, Technical Director, or equivalent role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multidisciplinary engineering programs.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing system architectures and conducting technical reviews.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering disciplines.

Required Clearance:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
