Chief County Engineer

The Chief County Engineer oversees the technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and fiscal management of Uintah County's physical infrastructure and facilities. Acting as the county's primary engineering authority, this position manages municipal construction projects from inception to completion, reviews private development plans for code compliance, and provides specialized engineering support to the Roads, Facilities, and Purchasing departments. Through rigorous project oversight, strategic grant support, and interdepartmental collaboration, the Chief County Engineer ensures all public works align with long-term Capital Improvement Plans and community safety standards.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field from an accredited college or university, supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in civil engineering, project management, or municipal public works infrastructure design.

Licensure and Certifications: Candidates must hold a valid State of Utah Professional Engineer (PE) license or a valid out-of-state PE license with the ability to obtain Utah reciprocity within six (6) months of employment. A valid Utah Driver's License, a clean driving history, and fulfillment of Uintah County vehicle insurability requirements are strictly required.

This full-time, Exempt position offers a competitive salary of $74,880-$128,960 depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being.
