Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage daily activities, including task assignments and scheduling.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and safety procedures.
  • Manage budgets for facilities maintenance and estimate costs for projects.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations as needed.

Chief Building Engineer Supervisor - Somerville, MA (Assembly Row)

Lead a Skilled Engineering Team at a Premier Healthcare Campus

Ready to take the next step in your engineering leadership career? CBRE is seeking a Chief Building Engineer Supervisor to lead a team of engineers supporting a dynamic three-building healthcare headquarters campus in the heart of Assembly Row, Somerville.

Conveniently located near the MBTA Orange Line, this highly visible corporate campus offers an exciting opportunity for an emerging engineering leader who enjoys mentoring teams, solving complex facility challenges, and making a direct impact on building operations.

What You'll Do

Check building systems including all MEP, fire alarms, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure the operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.

Oversee and inspect the work performed by engineering staff to make sure the work is complete; equipment is functioning accurately, and client space is in great working condition.

Track the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and provide mentorship opportunities. Coordinate the recruiting and hiring of new employees.

Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff.

Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.

Develop, implement, and communicate preventive maintenance programs and safety procedure manuals.

Ensure that mechanics and technicians receive accurate information and materials about assignments to complete work activities successfully.

Develop material and labor cost estimates for work orders, preventative maintenance activities, systems, and construction projects.

Establish and maintain budgets for facilities maintenance.

Respond to emergency situations and ask for help when needed.

Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.

Showcase expertise in own job subject area and in-depth knowledge of other job subject areas within the organization function.

Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.

Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to embrace a different point of view.

What You'll Need:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Trade License is preferred.
  • Experience in a leadership position in a related field is a plus.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Proficient in effectively managing tasks with a curious attitude.
  • Highly sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate somewhat complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

The minimum salary for the Chief Building Engineer Supervisor is $130,000 and the maximum salary for Chief Building Engineer Supervisor position is $145,000. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
