Air Dominance Engineering within Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Architect (Level M) to join a proprietary program in Hazelwood, MO.

A franchise program is seeking a Senior Manager to assume leadership as the Chief Architect as the program advances through development. This position plays a critical technical leadership role across multiple program teams and segments, assuring system integration, quality engineering across design, build, and test, and alignment of technical execution with program strategy.

The Chief Architect will provide senior technical leadership to Systems Engineering, specifically ensuring Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology is executed on the program and that appropriate integration occurs across all engineering disciplines to ensure an integrated solution.

This position is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership for activities involving Weapon System design, development, and qualification, ensuring consistent interface definition, integration, and coordination. The Chief Architect will ensure the Weapon System architecture meets customer requirements and achieves mission success through technical excellence, safety, quality, and product engineering.

This role also contributes to program strategy by helping identify tools, technologies, methods, services, and solutions that position the program for success. The selected candidate will work closely with customer engineering personnel, program leadership, Integrated Product Teams, and internal stakeholders to support technical strategy, execution planning, and future growth.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for activities involving Weapon System design, development, and qualification ensuring consistent interface definition, integration, and coordination.
  • Ensure Weapon System architecture meets customer requirements and achieves mission success through technical excellence, safety, quality, and product engineering.
  • Support the identification and development of tools, technology, methods, services, and solutions that position the program for success.
  • Drive technical performance and accountability across all disciplines.
  • Support technical trade studies, architecture decisions, and technical recommendations that influence program execution and future growth.
  • Coordinate with functional and support organizations to acquire appropriate resources to accomplish development tasks.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with corresponding customer engineering personnel.
  • Establish, leverage, and maintain productive working relationships with Integrated Product Teams, supply chain, and other business units as required.
  • Support a transparent culture of proactive technical oversight and rapid issue resolution.
  • Support the development of program personnel and provide growth opportunities.
  • Support a culture of Safety, Quality, Technical Excellence, and Integrity.
  • Help shape technical roadmaps, affordability considerations, and investment priorities that support both execution and future competitiveness.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Hazelwood, MO.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Top-Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Experience as a Senior Engineering Manager or technical leader working across multi-disciplined teams supporting technical execution of complex systems.
  • Experience with Government customer interactions and program execution engagements.
  • Experience leading engineering trade studies and baseline control.
  • Experience working with program management and finance to ensure execution to program plans.
  • Experience leading technical execution across design, development, integration, and qualification activities.
  • Experience contributing to technical strategy, advanced design activities and customer engagement in a complex systems environment.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining strong cross-functional relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience)

  • 5+ years of engineering or technical leadership experience with large-scale weapon system integration.
  • 5+ years of experience in fixed-wing weapon systems development.
  • 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong communication, adaptability, decision making, customer focus, integrated systems, engineering analysis, and requirements tracing skill sets.
  • Experience providing technical leadership in a transparent culture of proactive oversight and rapid issue resolution.
  • Experience supporting technical baselines, qualification planning, and cross-functional engineering coordination.
  • Experience applying MBSE methodologies in a development environment.
  • Experience influencing architecture decisions that improve affordability, producibility, and mission effectiveness.
