Position DescriptionPerforms central accounting and financial analysis functions with a focus on grant management, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and funding agency guidelines. Responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of fund management processes, including collecting, analyzing, and developing data related to the assigned area; making recommendations; and assisting with project implementation. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment.
Major/Essential Functions- Effectively supervise assigned areas of the Contracts and Grants Accounting Department.
- Assist the Associate Managing Director of Contracts and Grants Accounting with the monitoring of sponsored project funds, grants, and contracts, as well as assist in financial reporting, compilations, and distributions.
- Emphasis on federal, state, private, and local grants and contracts as well as endowments and gifts.
- Responsible for accounting functions according to established policies and procedures of TTUHSC at El Paso, as well as policies related to contracts and grants.
- Assist in the maintenance of the institution's fund structure and finance system to ensure accurate accounting records and reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report and Annual Audits.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
- Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.
- Remain current with all licensures, certifications, and mandatory compliance and training requirements for this position.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications- Ability to learn complex financial information systems.
- Experience in fund accounting, Banner Finance, and IBM Cognos. Contract & Grant Accounting and Research Administration in a higher education environment.
- Proficient in reconciling, analyzing, and financial reporting.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required plus five years progressively responsible related experience.
