JOB TITLE: Principal Systems Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:The AV - Principal Systems Engineer is the departments senior technical authority responsible for the design, integration, programming, automation, documentation, optimization, and lifecycle management of enterprise audiovisual systems. This position provides technical leadership across permanent AV installations, live production systems, convention spaces, entertainment venues, sportsbooks, digital signage systems, control rooms, broadcast environments, and property-wide AV networks. The AV Principal establishes system standards, develops automation solutions, supports complex troubleshooting, and ensures that AV platforms operate reliably, securely, and consistently across all company properties.
The AV Principal serves as the technical bridge between AV Operations, Information Technology, Facilities, Engineering, Security, vendors, manufacturers, consultants, and construction teams. The position is expected to remain hands-on while also mentoring AV Engineers, Leads, and Technicians.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: - Establish and maintain company-wide AV engineering, integration, and programming standards.
- Improve system reliability through automation, monitoring, redundancy, and preventative maintenance.
- Lead the technical design and deployment of new AV systems and major upgrades.
- Reduce operational downtime by identifying recurring failures and implementing permanent corrective solutions.
- Standardize AV control, signal routing, network configuration, equipment naming, documentation, and commissioning procedures.
- Provide advanced technical support for high-profile events, critical venues, and property-wide AV incidents.
- Develop the technical abilities of AV Engineers, Leads, Technicians, and other operational personnel.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: The AV Principal should demonstrate advanced knowledge in the following areas: Audio, Video, Control and Automation, Networking and Integration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Seven or more years of progressively responsible professional AV experience.
- Minimum of three years experience in designing, programming, commissioning, or integrating complex AV systems.
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise control systems, automation, DSP configuration, video distribution, and network-connected AV equipment.
- Experience leading technical projects from design through final commissioning.
- Advanced troubleshooting experience across audio, video, control, networking, and power-related systems.
- Ability to read and create signal-flow diagrams, rack elevations, network diagrams, and installation documentation.
- Experience coordinating work with IT, Facilities, Engineering, Construction, vendors, and operational departments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions during high-pressure situations.
- High-School diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENTAND SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to work in equipment rooms, control rooms, event spaces, rooftops, loading areas, public venues, and active construction environments. e
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and access equipment located above or below normal working height.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.
- Ability to work around loud audio, theatrical lighting, video displays, electrical equipment, crowds, and active entertainment operations.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency support periods when business operations require it.
- Ability to travel between company properties and vendor or project locations.
- Ability to maintain all required property, gaming, security, or workplace credentials.
