Job Description:

Abstracts clinical data to complete AHA-GWTG and SCPC registry information for all required cases and coaches healthcare providers on necessary components of clinical documentation. Coordinates and hosts quarterly multi-specialty Chest Pain team meetings, formulates agendas, and follow-up recommendations to facilitate program quality. Provides educational programs to Nursing Services and other ancillary departments on best practices in compliance with Chest Pain Center standards. Engages with Marketing and CME Coordinator to develop programs that enhance the Chest Pain Center's quality and provide community education. Maintains clinical competencies and provides direct patient care as directed by hospital leadership. Performs other duties as assigned. Interprets SCPC Chest Pain Center accreditation standards and develops policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance. Interprets The Joint Commission Chest Pain DSC Certification and makes recommendations to the medical director for approval. Collaborates with Emergency Department, Nursing, and Catheterization Lab leadership to ensure compliance with established Chest Pain protocols. Develops and maintains strong relationships with local Emergency Services organizations, providing formal communication and quality review processes. Monitors STEMI Door-to-Balloon operations, including health record documentation, physician/staff responsiveness, and patient flow. Provides follow-up with post-STEMI patients, including chart abstraction and feedback to EMS providers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Skilled in critical care nursing and emergency room or catheterization lab experience; [Required]
  • Basic cardiovascular rhythm recognition and cardiopulmonary monitoring assessment; [Required]
  • Medication management with acute-care cardiovascular drugs and IV pumps; [Required]
  • Advanced knowledge of Hypothermia Therapy, equipment set-up and application; [Required]
  • Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular diagnostics and imaging techniques; [Required]
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal; [Required]
  • Highly organized in compiling clinical data / images for presentation to multi-specialty physician teams to assess patient findings; [Required]
  • Advanced knowledge of indicators and criteria for data entry for Chest Pain Center accreditation. [Required]
  • Experience caring for patients with ICD and LVAD devices implants; [Preferred]
  • Proficiency in Micro-Soft Power-Point presentation design. [Preferred]

Education:
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]
