Job Summary

The Product Chemist serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for Nutrien products, delivering high-quality technical, regulatory, and chemistry expertise in support of Regulatory & Stewardship teams across crop protection, adjuvants, biostimulants, and commodity fertilizer product chemistry.

This role focuses on problem-solving, technical documentation delivery, project support, and contributing to cross-functional knowledge sharing across Loveland product lines and wholesale chemistry support.

This position plays a critical role in facilitating the development, registration, and lifecycle management of crop input products by ensuring regulatory documentation meets both scientific rigor and compliance standards. The Product Chemist serves as a key technical interface between Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as an SME for Loveland products and wholesale chemistry support, delivering technical regulatory documentation, assessments, and project contributions
  • Provide chemistry-based regulatory support for product registrations, audits, and lifecycle management
  • Contribute to cross-training and knowledge-sharing initiatives across product chemistry functions, fostering broader technical and regulatory understanding
  • Prepare and deliver regulatory documentation including:
    • Confidential Statements of Formula (CSFs)
    • Product specifications and composition statements
    • Regulatory manufacturing process descriptions
    • Data packages supporting FIFRA Sections 3, 24(c), and amendment submissions
    • Product data sheet creation and maintenance
  • Translate laboratory, R&D, and manufacturing data into clear, compliant regulatory summaries and assessments suitable for submission to regulatory authorities
  • Collaborate with R&D, analytical laboratories, manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain teams to align product chemistry information with product specifications and regulatory commitments
  • Gather, critically review, and interpret technical and regulatory chemistry data, including physical-chemical studies, five-batch analyses, method validation studies, stability and storage studies, and data conducted or evaluated for hazard communication compliance
  • Assess product chemistry data for completeness, scientific integrity, and regulatory applicability in support of registration and stewardship activities
  • Utilize regulatory knowledge management systems for effective data entry, retrieval, maintenance, and version control
  • Support continuous improvement of product chemistry processes, documentation practices, and regulatory data management systems
  • Maintain awareness of evolving regulatory requirements and industry guidance affecting product chemistry and agricultural input products


What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Agronomy, or a related scientific discipline. Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in pesticide, fertilizer, agricultural chemical registration, regulatory chemistry, product stewardship, or related technical roles
  • Working knowledge of EPA registration requirements (FIFRA and/or TSCA) and product chemistry data requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working with or interpreting laboratory and analytical data in support of regulatory submissions
  • Familiarity with agricultural chemical regulatory frameworks outside the U.S. (e.g., EU, Canada, LATAM) is desirable
  • Experience preparing or supporting regulatory submissions and technical product documentation


Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this role, in Deerfield, IL, is between $75,300 - $118,250. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.
