Full Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to the identification and evaluation of current policies and business processes that are in the scope of the Quality Management System; contribute to the design of the QMS; provide specialist quality management input to the drafting of new policies and procedures, and design of business processes; contribute to the quantification of the costs and business benefits of change.
  • Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions, to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve these, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Validate new or existing complex test methods and procedures; identify issues and recommend improvements to contribute to further development.
  • Explain the local action plan to support team members in their understanding of what needs to be done and and how this relates to the broader business plan and the organization's strategy, mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
  • Carry out a specified range of complex tests; interpret test data to verify that specifications are met and/or to identify remedial actions required to ensure conformance.
  • Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
  • Identify, within the team, instances of non-compliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.


REQUIREMENTS
  • University (First degree): A Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry with at least 5 years industrial experience or a Master's Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry with at least 3 years industrial experience.
  • Significant hands-on experience (e.g. method development, method validation) with chromatography methods (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, IC, GC) is required with experience in Mass Spectroscopy, NMR, Supercritical Fluid Separations, Microscopy, Large Molecule Analysis, or Surface Analysis a plus.
  • Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised.
  • Experience of general supervision of more junior colleagues.
  • Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on developing appropriate plans or performing necessary actions based on recommendations and requirements.
  • Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.
  • Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on developing, monitoring, interpreting and understanding policies and procedures, while making sure they match organizational strategies and objectives.
