What you will be doing:As a
Chemical Engineer, you will support the development of next generation of
water and air filtration technology. This role requires the ability to work independently in a laboratory environment while conducting advanced analytical testing, designing experiments, and evaluating innovative materials and technologies.
The ideal candidate will be proficient with analytical instrumentation-including ICPMS, LCMS/MS, SEM, FTIR, and GCMS-and capable of developing and following SOPs to ensure consistent, high-quality laboratory output. The role involves validating current water and air filtration systems, exploring new scientific approaches, performing literature based technical assessments, and contributing to product certification efforts with bodies such as AHAM, NSF, IAPMO, and WQA.
Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, as this position will translate scientific findings into clear recommendations for cross functional partners, including marketing, quality, and executive leadership. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required to support technology assessments, supplier interactions, and certification activities.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments including ICP-MS, LC-MS/MS, SEM, FTIR, and GC-MS for material and water analysis.
- Design, plan, and execute experiments to support product development and filtration performance validation.
- Develop, update, and maintain SOPs for laboratory processes, testing procedures, and analytical workflows.
- Validate existing filtration technologies and assess emerging materials and methods for next generation water filters.
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to identify scientific advancements and predict future trends in water and air filtration.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing experimental results and insights.
- Communicate scientific findings and recommendations to marketing, quality, leadership, and executive teams.
- Collaborate with external certification bodies including AHAM, NSF, IAPMO, and WQA to support product testing, compliance, and certification activities.
- Manage data analysis efforts, ensuring statistical rigor; apply SPC tools where beneficial.
- Support domestic and international travel needs for supplier visits, technology assessments, and certification activities.
- Apply strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills to troubleshoot issues, interpret complex data, and develop scientifically sound recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications: - Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
- 1+ years of relevant experience in working in a laboratory environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in between offices and labs.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (Mexico, China and Europe) up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience working in a water chemistry laboratory.
- Knowledge of relevant NSF/ANSI standards and regulations.
- Expertise in Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, and Data Analytics.
In Massachusetts, the standard base pay range for this role is $82,000.00- $102,000.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
