In this position...

The Chassis Systems Engineer is responsible for integrating chassis components into a vehicle-level system to deliver Ford Racing vehicle performance targets. This role partners closely with D&R engineers, Vehicle Engineering, Vehicle Dynamics, and cross-functional teams to establish vehicle kinematic and compliance targets, maintain system health chart documentation, and support development milestones. As the single point of contact for suspension hardpoints and the vehicle ADAMS CAE model, this engineer ensures chassis-related data, models, and test outputs align with program requirements across prototype, launch, and production builds.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Serve as the single point of contact for suspension hardpoints and the vehicle ADAMS CAE model
  • Assess Chassis Systems health chart metrics at each milestone and work with component engineers to close gaps and meet requirements
  • Coordinate durability vehicle preparation and testing, ensuring part pedigree matches the CAE model
  • Lead problem-solving efforts for chassis component issues, translating test data into actionable engineering recommendations
  • Support testing, prototype builds, launch builds, and ongoing production of Ford Racing vehicles at assembly plants and test facilities
  • Set targets for vehicle ride height and alignment and evaluate status at vehicle builds
  • Cascade travel and check load requirements to shock and spring suppliers
  • Interface daily with a global team of D&R engineers, vehicle attribute teams, program management, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure compliance with specifications and drive efficient critical decisions
  • Support vehicle development and supplier reviews, including occasional travel as required


Qualifications

You'll have...
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrated results in chassis systems, vehicle dynamics, vehicle architecture, or suspension component engineering, with experience across different phases of the vehicle product lifecycle
  • Experience with ADAMS vehicle dynamics CAE modeling software
  • Strong knowledge of chassis systems and how they interface with other vehicle systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Even Better, You May Have...
  • Familiarity with Ford PD systems and processes including GPDS, WERS, FEDEBOM, FEDE, Teamcenter, 3DX, etc.
  • Experience with vehicle manufacturing launch and prototype processes
  • Strong knowledge of tunable suspension component design including shocks, coil springs, bushings, and related mounting hardware
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (CATIA)
  • Ford Tier II driver evaluation certification (sub-limit vehicle evaluation)
  • A self-starter mentality with the ability to deliver results and overcome obstacles

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
