CHARGE TECHNOLOGIST MAGNETIC RESONANCE- DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

THE OPPORTUNITY

As an MRI Charge Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operation and performance of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) department. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, adherence to safety protocols, and efficient workflow management within the MRI unit. Your role will also involve delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring accurate generation of MR Imaging results through your specialized skills. Operating within departmental protocols, you execute tasks efficiently while upholding professional standards and organizational values, serving as an example for others. All duties are conducted in accordance with the Standards of Practice established by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists and the regulations outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act. Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging & Laboratory Services. Rotation through other modalities based on qualifications and unit requirements may be required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and mentor MRI technologists, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance and professional development
  • Oversee daily operations of the MRI department, including scheduling, staffing, and equipment maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance measures
  • Perform MRI imaging procedures as needed, demonstrating proficiency in image acquisition, data interpretation, and patient care
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Provide training and education to staff on new techniques, equipment, and safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and quality control measures within the MRI department


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Graduate from a recognized accredited school of Magnetic Resonance Technology
  • College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologist (CMRITO) of Ontario for both MR and Radiography preferred
  • Member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an MRI technologist, with demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong knowledge of MRI imaging principles, techniques, and equipment operation
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a healthcare setting
  • Experience with Siemens MRI systems preferred
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in all aspects of Magnetic Resonance Procedures
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) registration
  • Working knowledge of RHPA
  • Working knowledge of standards of practice for related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Control and Quality Assurance Programs
  • Able to identify and recommend process improvement opportunities
  • Able to work independently and co-operatively as part of a team
  • Recent satisfactory attendance record with no recent disciplinary events
  • Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles
  • Excellent clinical, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced working environment
