ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Quality Control Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading welding and fabrication quality control programs to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role oversees quality assurance processes, inspections, documentation, and close coordination with project teams, fabricators, and clients to ensure the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and project execution are maintained.

This position also serves as a mentor, coach, and technical resource for quality personnel, supervisors, and craft employees, helping build a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and quality excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in welding inspection, process piping, semiconductor construction, and quality systems, along with the leadership skills to guide teams and support successful project delivery.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
Quality Program Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs supporting semiconductor manufacturing facilities, including process piping, utility systems, skids, tool hook-ups, cleanroom infrastructure, and modular fabrication activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and client requirements, including ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, AWS, SEMI standards, ISO requirements, manufacturer specifications, and project-specific quality plans.
  • Lead quality initiatives that promote accountability, continuous improvement, and right-first-time execution across fabrication and field installation activities.
Inspection, Verification & Compliance
  • Oversee inspection and verification activities for high-purity and ultra-high-purity (UHP) process systems, including stainless steel orbital welding, tubing installation, skid fabrication, cleanroom construction, and thermoplastic piping systems such as PVDF, PFA, PP, PVC, CPVC, and HDPE.
  • Develop and oversee quality control processes for thermoplastic piping systems, including butt fusion, socket fusion, infrared (IR) fusion, bead and crevice-free (BCF) fusion, and other manufacturer-approved joining methods.
  • Conduct inspections of welding, fusion, fabrication, and installation activities, including weld preparation, alignment verification, fusion parameter validation, visual inspections, dimensional verification, and workmanship assessments.
  • Monitor fabrication and installation activities to ensure adherence to approved procedures, engineering specifications, cleanliness protocols, contamination control requirements, and client quality standards.
Documentation & Quality Records
  • Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ), orbital welding qualifications, fusion operator qualifications, and associated quality documentation.
  • Verify compliance with material traceability requirements, including receiving inspections, heat number verification, Material Test Report (MTR) review, Positive Material Identification (PMI) where applicable, and traceability documentation for thermoplastic piping materials and components.
  • Maintain complete and accurate quality records, turnover packages, inspection reports, weld logs, fusion logs, test records, material traceability documentation, and commissioning documentation to support client acceptance and system handover.
  • Review fusion machine calibration records, welding equipment certifications, inspection reports, and testing documentation to verify compliance with approved procedures and manufacturer requirements.
Testing, Turnover & Audits
  • Coordinate and oversee Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), boroscope inspections, weld mapping, passivation verification, pressure testing, leak testing, flushing, cleaning verification, and system turnover inspections.
  • Monitor fabrication and installation of UHP, chemical distribution, process waste, acid waste, solvent waste, industrial utility, and specialty process piping systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and semiconductor industry requirements.
  • Serve as the primary quality liaison during customer audits, supplier audits, regulatory inspections, and client quality reviews.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead the identification, documentation, investigation, and resolution of non-conformances, corrective actions, preventive actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Executives, Project Directors, Superintendents, Shop Superintendents, Fabrication Managers, Engineers, Safety Managers, and client quality representatives to proactively resolve quality issues and maintain project schedules.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, project planning sessions, risk assessments, fabrication strategy meetings, and lessons-learned reviews to ensure quality requirements are integrated throughout project execution.
