Kind of Work

Professional, supervisory and administrative work coordinating and directing of the city's centralized adjudication bureau. Work includes overseeing administrative hearings for the Departments of Safety and Permits, Code Enforcement, Vieux Carre Commission, Historic District Landmarks Commission, Public Works, Police, Sanitation, Health and the Fire Department. Work also includes supervising and creating policies for the bureau office staff and instructing authorized personnel in the procedures and guidelines as they apply to performing administrative hearings; and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications
  1. A license to practice law in the state of Louisiana.* Your eligibility to practice law in the State of Louisiana will be verified through the Louisiana State Bar Association website.
  2. Five (5) years of full-time experience as a practicing attorney. At least (1) year of this experience must have been in a professional and administrative capacity specialized in code enforcement, adjudication processes, case management or judicial administration.

* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify licenses claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Examination

A qualifying review of licenses and experience. This is a non-competitive original entrance examination in accordance with Civil Service Rule V, Section 8.1 (b) of the City Civil Service Rules.
