Job Summary

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

12 Months - 240 Days
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Master's degree and certification in school administration, doctorate preferred.
  2. Verified proof of five (5) years' successful experience as a teacher or administrator.
  3. Proficient with Microsoft Office software; knowledgeable of SOE software.
  4. Possess and maintain valid Alabama driver's license and BCS insurable driving record required.
  5. Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Regular and punctual attendance required; full compliance with BCS sick leave policy.
  2. Serve as program director/coordinator for assigned programs.
  3. Design and implement professional development relevant for personnel related to assigned areas of supervision.
  4. Coordinate activities with community agencies relevant for assigned areas of supervision.
  5. Make regular visits to local schools and classrooms in assigned areas of supervision.
  6. Provide general expertise and act as liaison between schools and central office in assigned areas of supervision.
  7. Represent the school system as directed at conferences, training seminars, and/or SOE meetings. Implement initiatives and relay information to relevant personnel in school district.
  8. Compile data and submit reports in a timely way to the SOE or other agencies, as directed, related to assigned areas of supervision.
  9. Evaluate personnel assigned for supervision in a timely way.
  10. Maintain documentation related to all areas assigned for supervision according to the records retention act.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  12. Promote a climate of high expectations for program staff.
  13. Demonstrate professional ethics.
  14. Adhere to federal, state, local guidelines, and board rules and regulations.
  15. Monitor and update policies related to assigned areas of supervision.
  16. Attend workshops to enhance skills and stay current in field.
  17. Drive vehicles to accomplish assigned work tasks.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  1. Ability to work a standard day and additional hours as required.
  2. Ability to assess need, plan and monitor budgets, and allocate resources.
  3. Knowledgeable of accreditation requirements, curriculum requirements, courses of study, and effective instructional strategies.
  4. Demonstrated skill in instructional leadership.
  5. Knowledgeable of evaluation program for teachers and support personnel.
  6. Demonstrated ability to administer a large and complex program.
  7. Knowledge of state and local school plans for general programs.
  8. Knowledge of school law and related state and federal mandates.
  9. Ability to use effective interpersonal and collaborative skills necessary for the successful implementation of programs, the coordination of committees, and to maintain productive relationships among colleagues.
  10. Knowledge in computer software and hardware; skill in spreadsheet and database applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  11. Knowledge of Board policies and procedures.
  12. Effective oral and written communication and leadership skills.
  13. Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  14. Skill in setting long and short range goals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Stoop, bend, step and reach on an occasional basis.
  2. Adequate strength, mobility, dexterity, agility, speech and visual and aural acuity to perform required tasks.
