Position Title: Center Administrator Classification: Exempt

Reports To: VP of Operations/SVP of Operations

Supervision: All Center Staff

Wage Range: $120,000 - $180,000

Our busy ophthalmology surgery center provides outpatient surgical procedures to Rocky Hill, CT and the surrounding communities.

Position Summary:

The Administrator is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and daily operations of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role ensures that the ASC operates in compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements while maintaining high standards of quality care, patient safety, and staff engagement. The Administrator works collaboratively with physicians, clinical leadership, and staff to promote efficiency, financial strength, and positive patient outcomes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Leadership
  • Direct daily operations of the ASC, including clinical, business office, and support services.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards (CMS, AAAHC, Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of patient-centered care, safety, and continuous improvement.


  1. Financial & Business Management
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance of the center.
  • Manage contracts with payers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Monitor revenue cycle processes including billing, collections, and accounts payable.
  • Identify opportunities for cost containment and operational efficiency.


  1. Human Resources & Staff Development
  • Work with the Human Resource Department to recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff; ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Promote a positive work environment and team culture.
  • Work with the Human Resource Department to ensure compliance with HR policies, licensure, and credentialing requirements.
  • Lead staff education, development, and performance management.


  1. Clinical & Patient Care Oversight
  • Partner with the Director of Nursing/Clinical Manager to ensure high-quality clinical operations.
  • Support compliance with infection prevention, medication management, and patient safety standards.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction and resolve patient complaints or concerns.


  1. Governance & Strategic Development
  • Work closely with the Governing Board and physician partners to develop and implement strategic goals.
  • Provide regular operational and financial reports to the Board.
  • Support physician recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Represent the ASC to external stakeholders, including regulators, payers, and the community.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, with at least 2 years in an ASC or surgical services environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMS Conditions for Coverage, state licensure, and accreditation standards.
  • Strong financial, business, and operational management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.


Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position, generally Monday through Friday with flexibility based on center needs.
  • This role requires the Administrator to be onsite at the ASC during operational hours.
  • Requires ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • May involve occasional evening or weekend responsibilities to meet operational needs.
