Job Description
MGS has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to join our MGS Automation team.

The Category Manager supports procurement and sourcing activities for the Automation team by managing requests for quotations, tracking supplier rebates and coordinating and maintaining key vendor relationships to ensure reliable service, quality and cost competitiveness. This role is responsible to ensure accurate documentation, timely communication with vendors and efficient purchasing processes to support business needs.

Below are additional duties and responsibilities:
  • Cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and active participant in sourcing kick off meetings
  • Work closely with Sourcing Engineer and Design Toolmaker to align vendor capabilities with business needs.
  • Source competitive suppliers and materials to maximize value for the company.
  • Prepare and issue requests for quotations (RFQs) to suppliers, collecting and analyzing responses to support sourcing decisions
  • Maintain accurate records of quotes, supplier contracts and pricing agreements
  • Process purchase orders (POs) and ensure compliance with company procurement policies
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for suppliers regarding order status, lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Regularly communicate with suppliers to understand their production capacity and potential constraints.
  • Proactively provide forecasts to suppliers, follow up on delayed shipments and coordinate with internal teams to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Manage and track Non-Conformation Reports (NCRs) received by metrology.
  • Track and manage supplier rebates, ensuring compliance with contract terms.
  • Work with finance to reconcile rebate payments and savings, maintaining accurate records.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize rebate programs and supplier incentives.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, quality data, and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor and communicate market trends to drive informed decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements and risk mitigation.
  • Serve as a good role model to employees for safe work practices and behavior by conducting yourself professionally, keeping in mind your own safety and the safety of others.
  • Any other duties or projects as assigned.

Experience and Skills
A qualified Category Manager candidate would fulfill these requirements:
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience of category or buying experience.
  • Strong supplier communication and relationship management skills.
  • Familiarity with supplier capacity planning and lead time tracking.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in regulated industries a plus.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP or procurement system experience.
  • Required to travel for supplier visits and miscellaneous events as needed (
