Full Job Description
We9re looking for a Carpentry Lead Superintendent to lead and execute overnight carpentry operations across South Florida commercial jobsites. Designed to relieve off-site carpentry leadership of direct overnight management, this position requires strong field leadership, technical carpentry expertise, and effective collaboration with site General Contractor (GC) Superintendents.

This is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for owning night-shift execution, managing shift-start planning, quality assurance, safety, and smooth daily handoffs. The primary schedule is overnight, with travel required to various commercial project sites throughout Florida. You will ensure trade-specific carpentry excellence across framing, drywall, trim, hardware, formwork, and specialty installations while providing clear direction and decision-making on active commercial buildouts, occupied facility remodels, and fast-track projects. This position requires flexibility to travel between project sites as needed, with the expectation that you will be home every weekend.

Location: South Florida (Regional Travel)

Department: Commercial Construction / Carpentry Services

Compensation: $90,000-$98,000 annually (Exempt)

Additional Compensation: 10% night shift premium, Company paid travel including meal per diem, paid lodging, vehicle and cell phone stipends

Employment Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities
  • Own and drive all overnight trade field operations across assigned South Florida jobsites.
  • Provide clear field direction and decision-making in active partnership with the applicable site9s GC Superintendent, ensuring alignment on site access, trade sequencing, and overall project schedules.
  • Review night-work plans, engineering details, customer guidelines, and turnover constraints prior to shift start to execute work accurately and efficiently.
  • Lead shift-start planning, safety briefings, pre-task coordination, and crew assignments.
  • Provide technical trade leadership and troubleshooting, including hands-on assistance when reasonably necessary to resolve complex field conditions.
  • Direct, supervise, and mentor trade leads, journeymen carpenters, apprentices, laborers, and specialty subcontractors working on overnight shifts.
  • Perform rigid quality control inspections for structural integrity, layout precision, code compliance, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and specialized equipment deliveries to prevent downtime and maximize nightly labor efficiency.
  • Travel regularly between commercial jobsites across South Florida to inspect, audit, and manage overnight carpentry operations.
  • Enforce strict jobsite safety, OSHA standards, personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance, and site-specific safety protocols throughout the overnight shift.
  • Establish and maintain robust public/occupant protection (containment barriers, dust and noise control, clean egress paths) in occupied facilities.
  • Verify that utility shutdowns, fire-life-safety systems, and customer spaces are fully restored, tested, and cleaned prior to morning customer or day-crew re-entry.
  • Execute detailed, accurate written and verbal daily handoffs to the Carpentry Manager, Project Managers, and Day Superintendents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive commercial construction and trade carpentry experience.
  • Proven field leadership as a Superintendent, Carpentry Foreman, or Lead Superintendent on night buildouts, occupied facility remodels, phase-critical work, or overnight shutdowns.
  • Advanced, journeyman-level knowledge of commercial framing, formwork, structural carpentry, doors/frames/hardware, trim and finish work, drywall, and specialty carpentry installations.
  • Demonstrated track record of providing site-level direction and applying sound decision-making skills in direct partnership with GC Superintendents.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, architectural plans, shop drawings, structural details, engineering specifications, and project schedules.
  • Basic proficiency with Google Workspace and construction scheduling software.
  • Valid Driver9s License with an acceptable driving record required.
  • OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).

Keys to Success
  • Maintain genuine willingness and flexibility to travel consistently across South Florida jobsites and sustain a regular overnight work schedule.
  • Drive production, resolve jobsite conflicts, and manage trade sequencing without requiring day-shift or off-site remote management support.
  • Lead by example through craftsmanship, safety, integrity, and operational discipline.
  • Adapt quickly to varying jobsite environments, occupied facilities, retail remodels, and fast-track commercial buildouts.
  • Maintain continuous, clear communication across shifts to ensure seamless daily handoffs.
  • Keep physical stamina to navigate active construction sites, lift/maneuver up to 50 lbs, work at elevated heights, and operate tools/equipment in low-light conditions.
