Position Description:

Nevada Gold Mines is looking for an Industrial Hygiene Manager to join the Safety and Health team. The Industrial Hygiene Manager supports closely with the site leadership to provide technical hygiene related services including monitoring, data management, reporting and analysis and health related support.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate company values in all actions and decisions
  • Provide leadership and set clear expectations to all direct reports and to the site
  • Provide professional development opportunities for direct reports to achieve their career goals
  • Provide technical support and direction to divisional management. Develop and maintain close working relationships with site HS leaders and Divisional management teams to ensure that operational hygiene and health challenges are understood
  • Embedding and sustaining new hygiene and health programs consistently across the site; and maintaining and improving existing hygiene and health programs
  • Assist in Formal and High-Level Risk Assessments
  • Provide in-field Safety & Health coaching to all employees
  • Actively participate in divisional toolbox training sessions/safety meetings/supervisor training
  • Assist and instruct MSHA topics with new hires, ART and Contractor hazard training as required
  • Audit divisional contractor control reps per the requirements of the Contractor Management Standard
  • Evaluate systems for functionality, effectiveness and efficiency
  • Assist in incident investigations as necessary
  • Ensure compliance to regulatory, corporate, or site requirements
  • Assist in meeting annual budget by scrutinizing expenditures
  • Ensure audits of investigation corrective actions are completed and in a timely manner
  • Provide on-call coverage as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, science or related discipline - Strongly Preferred
  • 10 years of experience in industry with proven/demonstrated Leadership in Industrial Hygiene and Health and Safety or,
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or related certifications - Preferred
  • Communicates regularly, both written and oral, in a wide range of forums to both hourly and management personnel - Required
  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership skills; leads team members with strategic vision and develops them into their career goals - Required
  • Successful prior implementation of large scale hygiene and health programs with demonstrable positive outcomes
  • Able to deliver results individually, and through team members, in accordance with compliance and strategic plans - Required
