Job DescriptionPosition Description:We are growing and are looking for an Environmental Engineer I or II, Water at our Carlin operation.
Responsibilities:- Manage compliance programs for water related permits and authorizations.
- Prepare regulatory reports and other compliance documents.
- Develop, maintain, and update environmental management plans, as necessary.
- Support hydrologic investigations, planning, projects, and reporting.
- Coordinate permitting activities associated with the water management needs of the site, including the review and preparation of permit applications.
- Coordinate projects and manage contractors.
- Coordinate with company subject-matter experts on complex compliance issues.
- Gather samples and field data from designated monitoring locations, as well as oversee and organize environmental data to contribute to the creation of regulatory reports.
- Participate in and conduct environmental inspections to ensure permit compliance.
- Provide training and support to NGM employees and contractors.
- Align with legal obligations and NGM health & safety policies and procedures. Lead by example and promote the NGM safety program and initiatives.
- Responsible for periodic after-hours on-call response to environmental incidents, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, civil engineering, mine engineering, chemical engineering, or other related field required
- At least one (1) to three (3) years direct experience in environmental compliance, including regulatory agency interactions preferred
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others required
- Ability to identify and implement opportunities for improvement required
- Strong computer skills including experience with PowerPoint, Word and Excel required
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions required
- Ability to lift objects up to 40 lbs. required
- Ability to drive results and ensure completion of time sensitive deadlines required
- Familiarity with compliance systems and ISO 14001 preferred
- General understanding of mining operations - preferred
