Somnia Anesthesia is seeking a TEE-certified Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our expanding team within Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.
This full-time hybrid position offers the opportunity to provide anesthesia care for a diverse mix of complex cardiac procedures and general surgical cases in a collaborative, physician-led ACT practice.
The ideal candidate is experienced in both open-heart and structural heart procedures and enjoys maintaining a broad clinical practice beyond cardiac anesthesia.
Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive annual compensation (based on experience)
- 1099: $15,697.65 per week +$50,000 annual stipend +$35,000 annual subspecialty stipend
- 39 weeks of service
- Commencement Bonus: $25K in year one and an annual Retention Bonus starting in year two
- Faculty appointments available
- 9 weeks unpaid PTO
- Premium Pay for additional hours worked over scheduled time
- Up to $10,000 Relocation Assistance Available
- General Call Rotation: 48 calls per year
- Average 1 per week in-house with a CRNA
- Post-call day off
- Non-call-taking full-time option: M-F
- Part-time opportunities available
Practice Environment:
Candidates should have extensive experience providing anesthesia for both cardiac and general surgical procedures.
Approximately 60% cardiac, with the remaining case mix consisting of diverse general anesthesiology cases.
Cardiac Practice Includes:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
- Valve Repair & Replacement
- Structural Heart Procedures (TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman)
- Endovascular Procedures
- EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair)
- Peripheral Vascular Interventions
- Other complex cardiovascular procedures
General Practice Includes:
In addition to cardiac anesthesia, physicians will provide anesthesia for a variety of general surgical specialties, allowing for well-rounded and diverse clinical practice.
Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia care for both cardiac and general surgical procedures.
- Utilize perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) during cardiac cases.
- Collaborate with surgeons, cardiologists, CRNAs, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Deliver high-quality patient care in a busy tertiary care environment.
- Document anesthesia care in accordance with Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and Somnia standards.
Schedule Options:
- General Call Taking-48 calls per year
- Average 1 per week in-house with a CRNA
- Post-call day off
- Non-call-taking full-time position available: M-F

Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
- Eligible for Tennessee Medical Licensure
- DEA Registration
- BLS and ACLS Certification
- TEE Certification Required
- Demonstrated experience providing anesthesia for open-heart and structural heart procedures
- Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship preferred but not required
- No visa sponsorship available
