Your Role at Cabot:

Cabot Corporation is seeking a Capital Project Engineer to join the team at the Franklin, LA location.

The Capital Project Engineer is responsible for the development, execution, and successful delivery of capital projects at the Cabot carbon black manufacturing facility. This role manages projects from concept development through commissioning and closeout while ensuring safe execution, compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements, adherence to budget and schedule targets, and alignment with plant operational goals.

This role is based fully onsite at the Franklin, LA location.

How You'll Make an Impact:

Lead capital projects through all project phases including FEL, scope development, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and execution strategies
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects ranging from small plant improvements to larger strategic capital initiatives.
  • Coordinate internal and external engineering resources, contractors, and vendors
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with Cabot engineering standards and site procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, PSM, environmental regulations, and site safety requirements
  • Participate in PHAs, MOCs, pre-startup safety reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure contractor safety performance meets site expectations
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules and project cost forecasts.
  • Track project costs, schedule performance
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Provide routine project status updates and reporting to site leadership
  • Coordinate construction activities to minimize operational disruption.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and turnover to Operations and Maintenance.
  • Verify project documentation, training, and closeout requirements are completed


What You'll Bring to Cabot:
  • BS in Engineering discipline is preferred. (i.e. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and instrumentation). Degrees in Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent will also be considered.
  • 3+ years of Project Execution experience managing projects, in a chemical or related industry or at an engineering management company.
  • PMP certification is strongly preferred.
  • Proven success in delivering projects in competitive, cost-sensitive environments.
  • Site supervision in a construction environment.
  • Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, carbon black, or heavy industrial operations preferred.
  • Understanding of PSM-regulated facilities and industrial safety requirements.
  • Project Planning & Execution.
  • Self-starter.; excellent management and organizational skills.
  • High level of proficiency with project controls (cost & schedule) programs.
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written, and presentation skills are a must.
  • Strong software understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Microsoft Project and AutoCad.
  • Must be able to work on project teams with multiple disciplines and multiple departments.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting methods and systems.
