Canadian Tax Manager

Department: Finance

Location: On site, Laval, QC (4204 Industriel Blvd., Laval)

Employment type: Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week)

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Canadian Tax Director within the Corporate Finance team, the Canadian Tax Manager will provide advice on income tax matters, primarily from a Canadian perspective.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Prepare and review income tax returns for Canadian corporations;
  • Prepare, or assist with the preparation of, all forms and calculations required for a group with international operations, including T1134 forms, tax surplus calculations, CbCR and Pillar Two;
  • Conduct tax research on various Canadian income tax matters;
  • Ensure that compliance documentation and processes are effective and meet internal control standards;
  • Coordinate and compile tax compliance documentation for Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia;
  • Compile and analyze information required for federal and provincial income tax compliance;
  • Participate in preparing quarterly and annual tax provisions, required journal entries and continuity schedules;
  • Calculate tax instalments;
  • Other responsibilities:
    • Support business units and management;
    • Contribute to special projects, including acquisitions;
    • Contribute to any other related projects.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA designation, or any other relevant education
  • Completion of In-Depth Tax Course I and II, or a Master's degree in taxation


Experience:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Strong tax compliance experience (essential)
  • Very strong tax accounting skills and good knowledge of IFRS accounting standards related to income taxes


Knowledge and skills:
  • Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, autonomy, accuracy and commitment, combined with strong analytical and business acumen
  • Strong ability to manage priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong proficiency with office tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Power BI and Power Automate is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency with software used to prepare income tax returns and tax forms, such as Taxprep T2 and Taxprep Forms
  • Experience with Longview is an asset;
  • Interest in process improvement and demonstrated technological innovation;


Language skills:
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both written and spoken, is required, as the incumbent will serve English-speaking regions.
