Job Description

The Role:

The ETC & Torque Security Calibration Specialist is a senior calibration engineer who leads complex calibration and issue-resolution activities for the Calibration Program Execution Team by shaping calibration strategies, planning and running tests, analyzing vehicle and CAN data, and delivering validated calibrations to program milestones. You will work closely with lead calibrators and cross-functional development and validation teams, serve as the go-to technical lead for CTF fleet feedback and special-support issues, and drive problems from initial triage through root cause and resolution. You will also communicate risks and recommendations to technical forums, share best practices, and coach calibration engineers—balancing hands-on technical execution with program-level priorities in both daily work and emerging launch support.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead propulsion calibration for ETC/Torque Security functions across assigned programs, from strategy and test planning through validation and release to GVDP timing.

  • Partner with lead calibrators, TRB technical specialists, development, validation, and manufacturing teams to establish priorities, test plans, and calibration strategies.

  • Ensure calibrations meet Master Calibration requirements and program milestones.

  • Mentor calibration engineers on ETC/Torque Security methods, tools, issue resolution, and best practices.

  • Serve as the accountable calibration lead for CTF fleet comments and related feedback.

  • Triage issues, lead root-cause analysis, coordinate resolution, and communicate status, risks, and next steps clearly.

  • Support vehicle development trips and other activities needed to meet calibration and program deliverables.

  • Lead special support efforts, including emerging field issues, launch-critical concerns, and cross-program calibration challenges.

  • Design and execute tests using advanced data analysis to identify calibration and design improvements.

  • Provide clear technical summaries, recommendations, and calibration risk assessments for TRB and other forums.

  • Explore AI and advanced analysis tools to improve calibration generation and execution

Impact: This role provides clear ownership for complex ETC/Torque Security topics and special-support initiatives, helping the team:

  • Respond quickly and effectively to high-visibility CTF and calibration concerns.

  • Maintain consistent, high-quality calibration content across programs and milestones.

  • Elevate team capability through senior-level technical guidance and coaching.

  • Reduce launch risk through earlier issue detection, stronger root-cause analysis, and faster resolution.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • Extensive hands-on experience developing, validating, and releasing propulsion calibrations to program timing.

  • Proficiency with calibration and data-acquisition tools such as INCA/ETAS and vehicle CAN data-recording systems.

  • Deep understanding of complex propulsion control systems and subsystem interactions.

  • Proven ownership of complex calibration deliverables and successful issue resolution under timing and quality pressure.

  • Experience collaborating across design, validation, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to independently resolve unusual or ambiguous issues.

  • Ability to balance detailed technical analysis with program priorities and timing.

  • Clear, concise communication skills with engineering, leadership, and external partners.

  • Ability to mentor and influence others without formal authority.

  • High accountability, independence, initiative, and follow-through.

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate risks, propose solutions, and drive workstreams through closure.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master of Science in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Broad familiarity with calibration software and analysis tools beyond the core toolset, and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools as needed.

  • Experience leading cross-program troubleshooting efforts, TRB activities, or similar forums.

  • Strong background in advanced test design, data analysis techniques, and calibration optimization.

  • Broad understanding of different hardware design and release processes, the function of the hardware components, and the physical interactions of the hardware to a greater system within an engine or transmission.
