EY's People Advisory Services, PAS, Mobility practice supports multinational employers and internationally mobile individuals with tailored Canadian and US tax compliance and advisory solutions that enable mobility strategies and business success.

As a Manager within our Mobility - Expatriate Tax team, you will lead the delivery of cross-border tax services for globally mobile employees, executives, and their employers. You will manage client relationships, oversee complex engagements, provide technical leadership across jurisdictions, and coach and develop team members. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in global mobility while making a meaningful impact on clients and the growth of our practice.

Your key responsibilities

As a Manager, you will be responsible for both client delivery and people leadership, including:
  • Leading and managing Canadian and US expatriate tax engagements for internationally mobile employees, including inbound and outbound assignees
  • Reviewing complex Canadian and US personal income tax returns and associated deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy and quality
  • Determining and supporting appropriate tax filing positions, identifying risks, and advising clients on cross-border employment and compensation matters
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to clients on global mobility tax considerations and emerging issues
  • Managing engagement economics, including budgeting, scheduling, and monitoring timelines
  • Providing coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to Senior Tax Staff and Tax Staff
  • Overseeing tax technical research and applying conclusions to compliance and advisory deliverables
  • Supporting mobility advisory initiatives, including planning, policy-related matters, and global coordination projects
  • Contributing to national learning initiatives through training delivery, technical content development, and knowledge sharing
  • Leveraging EY technology and standardized tools to enhance efficiency, consistency, and client experience


Skills and attributes for success
  • Strong technical foundation in Canadian and or US personal taxation, with experience in expatriate or global mobility tax matters
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment across complex, multi-jurisdictional issues
  • Effective people leader with experience coaching and developing junior team members
  • Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
  • Adaptable mindset and comfort working in a technology-enabled, fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to collaboration, inclusiveness, and delivering exceptional client service
  • Foreign language skills, particularly Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin, are not required but are valued.


To qualify for the role, you must have
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • CPA, Enrolled Agent, or other relevant tax designation
  • Several years of relevant experience in Canadian and/or US personal taxation, including exposure to expatriate or mobility-related work
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable tax legislation, compliance processes, and tax technology tools
  • Experience reviewing complex personal tax returns and managing engagement deliverables
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
