Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Cable & Harness Electrical Engineer - Level 3/4 to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate within Western Region Engineering. In this role, you will support design, test, manufacturing, and procurement of DC and RF cable & harness assemblies and fixtures from multiple suppliers. This position is located onsite in Redondo Beach, CA.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Define and document electrical interconnects through coordination with system, subsystem, and unit engineers
  • Incorporate project flow down requirements into the harness/cable design
  • Prepare Preliminary Design Audit (PDA) and Critical Design Audit (CDA) data packages and support design reviews
  • Assist in establishing harness/cable routing and segmentation
  • Perform voltage drop analysis and capacitance studies
  • Coordinate and document RF loss analysis
  • Prepare and release equipment specifications, manufacturing assembly drawings, and interconnect diagrams
  • Prepare fuse module, fusistor module, diode module, resistor module assembly drawings and test procedures
  • Provide support to Manufacturing and Spacecraft Assembly and Test

Basic Qualifications for Cable & Harness Electrical Engineer - Level 3:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 1 year of relevant experience
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date
  • Experience with procurement of aerospace hardware design and/or development of components
  • Experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project

  • Experience with procurement of aerospace hardware design and/or development of components
  • Experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with the successful design and delivery of spacecraft and/or aircraft DC harnesses and RF cables
  • Demonstrated multidisciplinary skillset with the ability to work with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge of military standards of connectors, wires, and contacts for space applications such as MIL-C-38999, MIL-C-24308, MIL-DTL-83513, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-HDBK-83575, DOD-W-83575
  • Proficient using harness design software tools such as Mentor Graphics, Routed Systems Design (RSD), CATIA, NX, Siemens Capital, Microsoft Access, Visio


Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
