About the Role

Schedule: 5/2 or 4/3 - 40 hours per week

Position Reports To: Procurement Lead

Position Overview: As an integral part of Coeur New Afton's Supply Chain Team, the Buyer will provide support to the operational departments. The successful candidate is an experienced individual who is familiar with the acquisition of goods and services, strategic sourcing, negotiating terms and conditions with Suppliers, and competitive bidding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily acquisition of goods and services, including issuing Request for Quotations and Purchase Orders;
  • Ensure all purchase requests align with the Procurement Policy;
  • Drafting and issuing Change Orders for goods and services;
  • Support or lead the competitive bid process and bid evaluations;
  • Manage supplier contracts and ensure compliance with agreed terms
  • Participate or lead negotiations with Suppliers on terms and conditions;
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply;
  • Liaise between engineering consultants, contractors, site operations and technical personnel;
  • Maintenance of contract tracking and other reporting tools;
  • Work cross-functionally with inter-departments;
  • Initiating and implementing cost savings and cost avoidance.
  • Support audits and maintain procurement documentation
  • Track Key Performance indicators ("KPIs")
  • Identify supply chain risks (single-source, long lead items)


Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary degree or courses specific to the Supply Chain Management is preferred, or a combination of education and experience;
  • SCMP designation, certificate (or similar/related) is an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience in a buyer or contract administrator role in the mining or any heavy industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven Team player
  • Solid understanding of the RFP/RFQ process
  • Ability to handle large volume of work and multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Good Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat skills
  • SAP4/Hana and SharePoint experience preferred.


Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
  • Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements


Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $90,000 and $110,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
