Weyerhaeuser Company is searching for an experienced Buyer / Materials Manager for the Engineered Wood Products facility located in Eugene, Oregon.
This position is part of the Weyerhaeuser Engineered Wood Products Business and reports to the Mill Manager. It is a full-time, exempt position.
Key Functions: As the Buyer / Materials Manager, you are a role model for our safety standards and demonstrate your sound characteristics of integrity, honesty and caring leadership. As a Procurement Professional, you are a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to work without direct supervision. This position has overall responsibility for providing incoming and outflow of goods and services, contract negotiation and management, capital project management, with oversight for inventory and asset management.
Key Functions and Responsibilities: - Responsible for leading Request for Proposal (RFP) process for goods and services, drafting formal contracts, negotiations and management, issuing SAP Purchase Orders and managing supplier relationships.
- Perform purchasing and sourcing for products and services of a more complex nature. This may include new inventory or unsourced parts, non-contracted items, and all higher dollar transactions, including capital.
- Oversee contractors onsite during the bidding/quoting process.
- Lead cost reduction & savings initiatives through implementation.
- Responsible for Investment recovery process for asset disposition.
- Perform & oversee internal controls relating to purchasing & storeroom inventory management.
- Supervises storeroom materials manager and provides or coordinates training and mentoring as required.
- Provide oversight to maintain proper storeroom inventory levels and accurately perform inventory cycle counts.
- Ensure transactional and procedural aspects of purchasing and materials management activities are in accordance with Wood Products Procurement centralized procedures and guidelines, while also supporting mill's requirements and local processes.
- Ensure purchasing and storeroom performance show continuous improvement (or sustained high performance) as measured by Wood Products Procurement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and guidelines, while also supporting mill's local KPIs.
- Step in and provide team support as needed outside of core areas of responsibility.
- Manage additional duties as required for the effective & efficient flow of goods and services to the mill.
Qualifications - Diploma/Certificate or GED required.
- Must also have a bachelor's degree in an applicable/related field OR 6 years of purchasing and/or storeroom experience.
- Strong understanding of capital expenditure (CapEx) processes, business case development, and procurement frameworks.
- Experience in maintenance and capital project support, including bidding, negotiating and contract administration.
- Ability to handle large volumes of work and multiple priorities.
- Strong accounting acumen.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office applications).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
DESIRABLE - Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- SCMP designation
- SAP experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or related field.
- Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPM) are a plus.
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $75,600 to $113,500 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.
