Full Job Description
Summary: The Vice President - Commercial provides leadership and direction for PVS Nolwood's commercial activities, with primary responsibility for sustainable revenue and volume growth and improved chemical margin performance. The role leads sales and works across Nolwood to strengthen customer relationships, develop new business, improve pricing and margin discipline, and promote consistent commercial practices. The position also provides leadership and coordination for procurement activities so that purchasing strategies, supplier relationships, product costs and commercial opportunities are aligned with business needs. The successful candidate will be a hands on commercial leader with strong customer, supplier and market knowledge and the financial and analytical skills to translate commercial activity into profitable growth. Responsibilities: Commercial Growth, Sales Leadership and Business Development • Develop and execute commercial plans to achieve revenue, volume and chemical margin objectives. • Lead, coach and develop the sales organization with clear expectations for profitable growth, customer retention, new business development and execution. • Build a disciplined business development process focused on new customers, products, markets and applications, while expanding business with existing accounts. • Maintain an active pipeline of qualified opportunities and regularly review significant opportunities, bids and commercial initiatives. • Promote a companywide approach to customers and markets and maintain appropriate involvement with strategic customers and major opportunities. Pricing and Margin Management • Drive consistent pricing discipline with a strong focus on chemical margin dollars and margin percentage. • Review customer, product and market profitability and ensure that revenue and volume growth create sustainable value. • Work with Sales, Procurement and Finance to respond effectively to changes in product costs, supplier pricing and market conditions. • Maintain appropriate commercial review processes for significant bids, contracts and pricing decisions. Procurement and Supplier Coordination • Provide leadership and direction for procurement activities and strengthen coordination between Sales and Procurement. • Develop strategic supplier relationships, support major negotiations and improve purchasing economics and competitive positioning while maintaining appropriate product availability and service. Customer Service and Commercial Execution • Promote consistent standards for customer service, responsiveness and follow through across Nolwood. • Coordinate with Operations, Procurement and Technical Services to ensure customer commitments are achievable and effectively executed. • Use Technical Services and other internal expertise to strengthen customer relationships, solve customer problems and support new commercial opportunities. Inventory and Working Capital • Partner with Operations and Procurement to optimize inventory levels and turns while maintaining appropriate customer service and product availability. • Improve demand visibility and proactively address slow moving, aging and customer specific inventory to minimize obsolete, expired and excess material. Safety, PVS Culture and People Development • Demonstrate a visible commitment to safety and reinforce that commercial growth must never come at the expense of employee safety, product stewardship, quality or regulatory compliance. • Partner with Operations and EHS&S to ensure commercial commitments are consistent with safe handling, transportation, storage and delivery of chemical products. • Promote PVS values through integrity, accountability, teamwork, open communication and decisions based on what is best for PVS Nolwood as a whole. • Develop commercial talent, establish clear accountability for results and build future commercial leadership. Key Performance Indicators • Revenue and sales volume growth versus budget and prior year • Chemical margin dollars and chemical margin percentage • New business wins, qualified opportunity pipeline and conversion • Customer retention and growth within existing accounts • Sales productivity and forecast accuracy • Procurement performance and purchasing economics • Inventory turns, aging and obsolete inventory, in partnership with Operations • Progress against strategic customer, supplier and market development objectives Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Chemistry, Engineering, Supply Chain or a related field required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. MBA or other advanced degree is a plus. • 15+ years of progressive experience in sales, commercial management, procurement, or related leadership roles, in chemical distribution, industrial chemicals, or a related B2B industrial environment. • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams, delivering profitable growth, managing pricing and margins, and negotiating with customers and suppliers. • Strong understanding of purchasing economics and P&L concepts; experience across multiple locations or business units is preferred.
