Overview

**This position can work in our Orlando, FL or our Tampa, FL office.**

 

The Business Unit Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction for day-to-day operations of the assigned business unit. They are directly responsible for overall management and business unit strategy aligned with organizations vision.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and directs the local market.
  • Maintains long term relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and contractors to influence opportunities.
  • Develops and implements plans to maximize overall business objectives, as well as insure maximum profitability.
  • Conducts and coordinates Business Development with the Corporate Business Development & Preconstruction Teams; including support with major estimates, bid day strategy, negotiating the scope of contracts & boilerplate (coordination & obtaining approval from General Counsel) and coordination of bid bond, insurance, etc… as required for bid.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by maintaining business relationships, managing vendor & subcontractor relationships and coordinating & obtaining corporate approval regarding new relationships & sub bonding requirements.
  • Ensures market and community networking and participation in local/regional trade associations.
  • Initiates productivity improvements through business unit operations manager(s) and general superintendent(s), and ensuring the quality of work to the company's standards and project requirements.
  • Manages all labor within the business unit, including development of project teams, organizational charts and roles & responsibilities.
  • Coordinating with corporate regarding as required and responsible for: hiring & termination of all labor, conducting performance reviews of staff, recommending salary changes for staff, resolving internal personnel issues and development of talent within the business unit.
  • Internal and External Communication within the business unit.
  • Conducts staff meetings with Operations Manager, General Superintendent, Superintendent, Foreman, and Project Manager, addressing management issues as well as safety and productivity improvements.
  • Promotes and they are accountable for all aspects of Safety & Risk Management within the business unit.
  • Monitors, promotes and maintains company strategic plans & goals, mission, culture and business unit Team.
  • Meets or exceeds all financial expectations, budgets and goals; including preparing and maintaining budgets (approved by Executive Committee), reviewing and approving all Project set-ups and Project Status Reports, monitoring all pricing, and reviewing cost data with Operations Manager; monitor and maintain cash position of business unit.
  • Resolves dollar disputes between estimates and actual cost.
  • Directly responsible for all labor, material, other, profit, loss, project performance, safety, subcontractors, vendors, etc… within and in conjunction with the operations of the business unit.
Qualifications Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in the mechanical and plumbing subcontractor industry. 
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing large healthcare, hospitality, education projects, etc in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated business development expertise with responsibility for generating and sustaining $40M-$60M in annual revenue while cultivating strong, long-term client relationships and driving customer satisfaction. 
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • BS Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering

  • 0-5% of the time will be spent traveling to the job site(s)/office locations.
