Full Job Description
The Alternative Investments Team provides accounting, pricing, and reconciliation services for our alternative investment fund clients. This group is a growing team that continues to add to our client portfolio. With additional clients and the evolution of client needs comes the opportunity to grow our knowledge base and expand our technological capabilities.

We're looking for a Business Systems Analyst III to help our alternative investments team scale beyond our current Excel-based infrastructure. As we onboard several large new clients, we need someone who can both manage the hands-on work of bringing in new clients' historical data and lead the effort to modernize the systems and validation processes that our team relies on every day.

This is a high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of fund accounting operations and systems/process design. You'll work directly with a team of experienced fund accountants who understand the business deeply but need a partner who can translate that institutional knowledge into scalable, systematized workflows.

How you will spend your time:
  • Client onboarding: Lead the ingestion and validation of historical data sets for new private equity, hedge fund, and fund-of-funds clients, ensuring data integrity from day one.
  • Process modernization: Evaluate our existing Excel-based validation processes (data scraped from source documents, tied out against totals, and cross-checked against a separate reporting system) and redesign them for a more scalable platform.
  • Systems selection & implementation: Research, recommend, and help implement tools or platforms (e.g., database-backed solutions, low-code platforms, or custom applications) that can replace manual, workbook-by-workbook validation with something that scales across a growing client base.
  • Automation & tooling: Partner with our existing VBA/Excel automation to identify what should be migrated, replaced, or bridged during the transition, minimizing disruption to daily operations.
  • Documentation & training: Document new processes and train team members on new tools as they're rolled out.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with fund accountants, technology teams, and client-facing staff to ensure new systems meet both operational and client-reporting needs.

What we're looking for:
  • Experience in business systems analysis, process improvement, or data operations - ideally within financial services, fund administration, or asset management.
  • Strong understanding of data validation and reconciliation concepts (tying data from one source system to another).
  • Advanced Excel skills required; VBA experience is a strong plus, since you'll be working alongside significant existing Excel/VBA infrastructure.
  • Experience with database concepts (SQL) and/or experience helping organizations move from spreadsheet-based processes to scalable systems (e.g., database applications, workflow tools, or reporting platforms).
  • Ability to manage large data volumes and design processes that hold up as data volume grows.
  • Strong communication skills - comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and able to document processes clearly.
  • Self-starter who can work independently in a remote environment.
  • You are detail oriented, organized, and have project management experience

Bonus Points if:
  • You have familiarity with private equity, hedge fund, or fund-of-funds accounting and reporting.
  • You have experience with low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Power Apps, Airtable) or scripting languages (Python) for data processing.
  • You possess prior experience supporting a client onboarding function in financial services.
