***This position is being offered as a promotional only opportunity. Applicants must be current contracted employees who have been with the district for 6 months or more, and in satisfactory standing.**The current vacancy is 8 hours per day, 12 months per year, located within our Information Support Services Department at the District Office.
PUSD Classification Salary Range: $35.19 - $45.03 per hour

Hourly rate may be slightly lower for employees currently on the 55 schedule (hired prior to 2013) due to the Retirement contribution.
Selection Procedure

Applications will be screened, and those candidates whose backgrounds best match the requirements of the position will be invited to participate in a competitive examination process, which may include any combination of the following: Training & Experience evaluation (T&E), multiple-choice question test, job-related performance exercise, and technical/ oral appraisal interview. Examination procedures are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Director of the Personnel Commission.

Candidates who pass all of the examination processes are ranked on an eligibility list according to their score(s). Selection for the position will be made from among the top three (3) ranks of candidates. The eligibility list will be used for hiring purposes in other vacancies in the same, or equivalent, job classification and will be active for six (6) months (Merit Rule 50.100.1).

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, develop, maintain, and analyze computer systems to fulfill District needs; facilitate the computerized collection, management, manipulation and distribution of data used for analysis; train and provide technical support to District personnel in the operation of computer systems.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Business Systems Analyst classification specializes in one or more software applications and serves as District-wide coordinator for the assigned systems. The Senior Business Systems Analyst coordinates more difficult and comprehensive applications requiring a more substantial knowledge of District operations with greater training and system enhancement accountability.

Examples of Duties
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Develop, maintain and analyze computer systems to fulfill District needs; modify existing programs to improve reporting and record maintenance; implement changes and additions of policies and procedures related to assigned activities; assure system access for new users. E
Facilitate the computerized collection, management, manipulation and distribution of data used for analysis; respond to document, report and data requests from District personnel and outside agencies, compiling information from various computer systems; assist with the development of information analysis procedures. E
Train and provide technical support to District personnel in the operation of computer systems; assist District personnel with troubleshooting, hardware upgrades, purchasing software and database maintenance; prepare training and informational materials for District personnel as directed; coordinate flow of technical information between various District departments. E
Input, process, maintain and evaluate a variety of data and information; audit information and prepare related reports as assigned. E
Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to computerized information for District personnel and outside agencies. E
Operate a variety of office equipment including a telephone, computer, facsimile, copier, computer and assigned software; operate a vehicle to conduct work. E
Communicate with students, District personnel and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns related to computer systems, data and technical issues. E
Coordinate informational staff meetings as assigned; conduct in-service training sessions as directed; attend and participate in assigned meetings, training courses and conferences.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school, and three (3) years of increasing levels of responsible experience providing technical support for computer systems.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver's license.

SELF-CERTIFICATION OF TYPING/KEYBOARDING SKILLS:
This classification requires that incumbents be skilled in typing/keyboarding at a minimum of 45 words per minute. A typing test will not be given. Applicants must certify in writing that they have such skills. Demonstrated proficiency will be expected during the probationary period for the class.

In accordance with Personnel Commission Rules and Regulations of Classified Service # 70.200.4, An employee who is promoted to a classification allocated to a range with a higher maximum salary shall be placed on the step of that range which most closely approximates 8 percent in amount above the employee's salary prior to promotion exclusive of special pay additives. If a service increment is due the employee at the time of promotion, it shall be credited and applied in the determination of the promotional salary placement.
