The Business Relationship Manager II (BRM II) position at the City of Tucson serves as a strategic liaison between the City of Tucson’s Information Technology Department (ITD) and partner departments, aligning technology solutions with business needs and objectives. This role fosters strong stakeholder relationships, enhances communication and collaboration, and proactively identifies opportunities for innovation and service improvement. The BRM II also balances departmental priorities with IT resources while providing leadership and guidance to the BRM team.
Work is performed under the supervisor of the IT Manager. This position does not supervise.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEstablishes and maintains strong relationships with partner departments, including senior leadership and key stakeholders, to understand their business goals, challenges, and technology needs. Serves as the primary point of contact for partner departments in relation to IT services which can’t be fulfilled by primary service owners, ensuring their needs are addressed and expectations are managed effectively. Actively participates in the IT governance processes, representing the needs and perspectives of partner departments.
Collaborates with partner departments and internal ITD team members to develop enterprise IT enabled strategies and initiatives that align with business objectives and provide guidance and recommendations on technology solutions. Stays informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to IT business relationship management, and incorporates them into departmental strategies and practices.
Identifies opportunities for IT process improvements, innovation, and digital transformation to enhance efficiency and service delivery for partner departments. Initiates ideation phase with partners to transition into project/program portfolio pipeline. Facilitates regular communication channels between the IT Department and partner departments, and within ITD to ensure effective coordination, resolve issues, and provide updates on IT initiatives.
Develops and provides formal training in areas of expertise. Coordinates and supports training for designated staff. Maintains knowledge of current developments and practices.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
