Role: Consultant, Business Delivery
Primary Assignment: Product Owner – Data & Analytics (Pet)
Compensation Range: G3

As a Business Delivery Consultant, you will play a versatile and vital role in bridging business needs and IT solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to serve as the Product Owner for the Data & Analytics scrum team supporting the Pet line, where you will be accountable for maximizing the value delivered through analytics, reporting, and data‑driven capabilities.

In this role, you will focus on understanding business processes, performance drivers, and strategic objectives, eliciting and refining business requirements, and translating them into clear, actionable product backlog items for development teams. You will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technology partners, ensuring that delivered solutions meet business objectives while adhering to quality standards, delivery timelines, and enterprise data practices.

Primary Responsibilities – Product Ownership
  • Serve as Product Owner for the Data & Analytics scrum team, owning the product vision, roadmap, and prioritized backlog for Pet analytics capabilities.
  • Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to define business outcomes, success measures, and value priorities for analytics initiatives.
  • Elicit, document, and refine requirements in the form of epics, features, and user stories, with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Continuously prioritize backlog items based on business value, risk, dependencies, and capacity, balancing near‑term needs with longer‑term strategic objectives.
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, architects, and delivery partners to clarify intent, resolve trade‑offs, and support efficient delivery.
  • Ensure solutions meet business requirements, usability expectations, and applicable data quality and governance standards.
  • Support stakeholder communication, alignment, and change readiness related to analytics delivery.
Additional Focus Areas (As Demand and Priorities Arise)

As business demand evolves, Business Delivery Consultants are expected to flex across any combination of the following focus areas, in addition to Product Ownership:

Business Analysis

  • Analyze current and future‑state business processes, data needs, and decision workflows.
  • Translate complex business problems into actionable requirements and insights.

Business Project Management

  • Support planning, coordination, and execution of business‑led initiatives, including scope, timelines, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
  • Provide status updates and stakeholder communication as needed.

UAT Planning and Execution

  • Develop UAT strategies, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria for analytics solutions.
  • Coordinate business UAT execution, defect management, and readiness for production release.
  • Support business sign‑off prior to deployment.

Business Process & Performance Analysis

  • Partner with stakeholders to define KPIs, dashboards, and reporting requirements.
  • Use data and analytics outputs to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement and benefits realization efforts.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience delivering data and analytics solutions, including reporting, dashboards, insights, or data‑driven capabilities that support business decision‑making.
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of data governance concepts, including data quality, controls, standards, and business ownership of data assets.
  • Familiarity with data integration patterns and ETL processes, with the ability to translate business needs into analytics‑ready data solutions.
  • Experience supporting or working with EDI and API‑based file transfer and integration solutions.
  • Working knowledge of data lake and data warehouse architectures, reporting platforms, and analytics ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of agile and product‑centric delivery practices, with experience working on or with scrum teams.
  • Ability to effectively partner across business and technology teams, influencing outcomes without direct authority.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical concepts and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partners with senior leaders to transform their businesses through the strategic application of people, processes and technology. Participates in the planning process by identifying complexities, dependencies and duplications.

  • Demonstrates expertise in leading business process analysis/design, organizational analysis, needs assessments and cost/benefit analysis to align solutions with business strategies and direction. Consults with functional groups within Nationwide Technology and internal business clients to develop short- and long-term business transformation plans. 

  • Serves as process management contributor and consultant between business customers and systems area for development and implementation of business processes and procedures. Responsible for communicating to customers, management and external sources.

  • Identifies critical elements of a business process that need to be managed. Defines criteria of performance success. Reports performance in a cohesive manner. 

  • As a team member, participates in analysis and design of organizational structures, roles, responsibilities, governance, staffing and sourcing to support business goals, strategies and process architecture. Provides significant contribution in executing business unit level change. 

  • Conducts and leads training of customers on business, technological, societal and environmental trends to support strategies for improving business performance.

  • Facilitates evaluation and research of new and existing products, procedures and/or workflow needs associated with business systems for the company. Evaluates new technological developments and evolving business requirements, and recommends appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements. 

  • Develops compelling business cases, including gaining senior management input, to accomplish business objectives. Identifies, assesses and mitigates business risks associated with current operating model and/or desired target state operating models.

  • May provide direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff. May assign responsibility for tasks, sets clear objectives and monitors progress and results. May monitors project schedules and costs. May develops project plans, work breakdown structures and desired outcomes for overall solution delivery.

Performs other responsibilities as assigned. 

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director. This is an individual contributor role and does not have direct reports; may have opportunity to lead projects or teams.

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information, business, mathematics or related field desired. Graduate studies are preferred. 

Experience: Eight plus years of dynamic experience in planning, designing and implementing company-wide business transformation initiatives. Extensive experience in functional, process, information and data modeling, data management and warehousing and applications integration. In-depth experience with process redesign methods and tools. Three years of experience in project management is preferred. 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of standards, methodologies and frameworks, business process management and technology. Sound knowledge of a variety of tools, concepts and techniques. Understanding of new technologies and developments in the technology industry. Detailed knowledge of the system development life cycle. Knowledge of project management concepts and techniques are required. Thorough knowledge of facilitation, performance management, organizational design and managing organization change. Ability to lead large or sophisticated projects. Effective communication skills and ability to deal with ambiguity. 

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
