Position Summary:
The Operations Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial functions related to the organization’s operational activities. This role ensures accuracy in reporting, supports decision-making through actionable insights, and partners with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of operational processes, inventory management, and cost accounting, coupled with excellent leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Accounting Oversight:
- Manage and monitor cost accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances.
- Oversee financial reporting and analysis of operational metrics.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to operations.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Prepare and present financial reports and operational KPIs to senior management.
- Collaborate with supply chain and distribution teams to optimize financial performance.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes for operations, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Identify and address risks and opportunities within operational budgets.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial records.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Leadership & Collaboration:
- Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering professional growth and development.
- Act as a key liaison between the finance department and operations, supply chain, and distribution centers.
- Systems & Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to improve accounting systems and processes.
- Support the implementation of ERP systems or other accounting tools, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Experience:
- 3 – 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on operations, Inventory, cost accounting, or manufacturing.
- Previous supervisory experience is required.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in distribution, supply chain, or manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
