Business Manager -Toledo

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to our Toledo location.

This position may offer relocation assistance.

  • Must be able to work a rotating shift, as needed
  • Must be able to work OT and weekends, as needed


The Role:
As a Leader in Production, you will be responsible for implementing and executing the established business process for an area of greater complexity in the production operations while fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of Global Manufacturing Systems; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
  • Maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and utilizes resources to solve quality issues.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management
  • Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union
  • Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.
  • Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements
  • Ability to deal with complex problems through practical problem solving, Op-Ex and other problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to seamlessly work with cross-functional teams and support both hourly and salary to remove roadblocks.
  • Effective communication to lead meetings.
  • Flexibility to cover vacation and absences in the team.


Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift, as needed
  • Must be able to work OT and weekends.


What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Master's degree
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Assembly and Manufacturing Experience (Gear, Prismatic, Assembly)
  • Ability to read and interpret Zeiss and M&M reports
