Job Overview

The Department of Family and Community Medicine is hiring a Business Manager - Finance. This position will be responsible for financial planning, financial analysis, targeted resource management and optimization for the College of Medicine and UC Physicians, Inc to provide timely, accurate information that supports financial decision making while utilizing excellent communication and relationship building, organizational, and business application technical skills.

This position is not eligible for H-1B (or J-1) sponsorship.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the financial and operation activities within the Department of Family and Community Medicine, including budgeting, grants, variance reporting, and contracting.
  • Support the compliance activities of the department, including research and management of an active clinical trials program, billing, etc.
  • Monitor and manage UC Physicians, Inc. provider compensation activities.
  • Perform budget analysis and assist in the development of budgetary forecasts.
  • Prepare and assist in budget-related statistical analysis, estimates and financial reports.
  • Provide support for quarterly College of Medicine effort reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc financial reports.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.


Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.


Required Experience

  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience in related activities including financial management and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.


Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience in a medical physician group, medical school, university, research organization, or healthcare organization.
  • Experience in accounting, finance, or analytics preferred.
  • Ability to craft clear, concise reports, analyses, emails, and presentations that effectively convey financial insights and recommendations.
  • Skill in articulating complex financial concepts and data in a simple, understandable manner during meetings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks within given deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Proficiency in core Microsoft applications like Power BI, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for creating documents, analyzing data with charts and pivot tables, and designing presentations.
