Full Job Description
The Business Intelligence Manager leads the team responsible for the strategic planning, application, and execution of business intelligence solutions. This critical role for Midwest Veterinary Supply works closely with the leadership team, stakeholders, and subject matter experts in designing and delivering analytics capabilities along with driving projects, roadmaps, data strategy, and team development. The Business Intelligence Manager is also responsible for delivering the platforms and tools necessary to enable data-driven solutions and data-informed decisions across the company. This role will be hybrid out of our Lakeville, MN Corporate office, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Midwest leadership team with stakeholders from Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, HR, Compliance, and Finance among other business segments to design and deliver analytics capabilities that offer opportunities for improvement while representing business intelligence (BI) solutions.
  • Lead a team of analysts, developers, and partners to design and deliver BI solutions for Midwest. Hire, mentor, and set individual and team goals. Prioritize workloads to align with company objectives, enforce quality standards, and create growth opportunities to retain talent.
  • Define and execute the enterprise BI vision, including scoping, feasibility, and delivery of analytics solutions. Research tools, lead product decisions, and balance risk, dependencies, and ROI. Develop roadmaps to drive timely adoption, align BI strategy with business goals, provide organizational guidance, and address process or system gaps.
  • Lead and manage projects-prioritizing high-impact initiatives, defining scope through kickoffs, aligning stakeholder expectations, and ensuring successful delivery with knowledge transfer. Leverage data insights, manage leadership expectations, incorporate user feedback, and maintain a prioritized backlog.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

High School diploma/GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience
  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience in a technical field required; experience in Business Intelligence preferred.
  • 2 or more years in leadership of BI or as a lead within a BI team with a proven track record architecting and delivering BI capabilities on a large scale is required.
  • 3 or more years of data modelling or content building for self-service business intelligence, analytics, and data modeling and content building for end user applications including but not limited to Cognos Analytics and Planning Analytics/TM1.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Db2, Oracle, MS SQL Server, or similar is preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including business partners, executives, IT/BI teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and interpreting English, including technical documents such as policies, safety guidelines, and procedural manuals.

Technical Expertise
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SQL, including experience with SQL editors and IDEs.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and familiarity with ETL tools (e.g., DataStage).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Equipment Used

Regularly uses multi-line phone system and typical office equipment to include computer keyboard, mouse and terminal, fax, scanner, and copier.

Work Environment

Work will be performed indoors in a temperature-controlled climate where moderate heat, cold or humidity may be experienced. Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday with at least three days in an office environment. Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required. On-call reliability is to be expected.
