Full Job Description

Western Express is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join the BI team and add to the growth of our reporting and analytics solutions. In this role, you will contribute to the BI team by creating stakeholder reporting and offerings across the business using data analysis, visualization, and business intelligence tools. We are seeking an individual with excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with technical and business stakeholders, and the drive to own deliverables and initiatives while working on both self-directed and team projects. We are looking for someone local to Nashville, TN as this is mostly an on-site role.

In this role, you will:

  • Use SQL (T-SQL syntax) to access, build, and update tables, views, stored procedures, etc.
  • Analyze data quality and accuracy
  • Ingest and transform data from various internal and external systems to create key performance indicators
  • Translate business questions into scalable data products — owning design, development, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Develop user-friendly and effective tools to support end users’ needs using MS SQL Suite, TIBCO WebFOCUS, AS400, SQL Viewpoint, or researching options not currently used internally
  • Simplify time-intensive, error-prone processes by developing programmatic solutions.
  • Communicate proactively with team members and stakeholders on project priorities, timelines, and progress.
  • Document processes and procedures
  • Manage multiple complex projects in a methodical and structured way

The ideal candidate will be:

  • An Eager Self-Starter – Adapts quickly to new tools and shifting processes, treats unfamiliar systems as a starting point, not a blocker
  • A Problem Solver – Tracks down answers — through documentation, internet research, AI-based resources, internal knowledge, or trial and error — to solve roadblocks independently.
  • Customer Focused – Strong focus on stakeholder satisfaction, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at any level
  • A Great Communicator - Able to work across teams to accomplish goals, providing proactive updates and asking questions when needed to keep progress moving forward.
  • Process and Results Oriented - Dedicated to the quality and ownership of your work products while still delivering results in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of SQL query writing experience, T-SQL syntax experience a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in a business intelligence or analytics role using MS SQL suite of products, including but not limited to SSMS, SSIS
  • Supply chain and/or transportation industry experience a plus
  • 5+ years of experience with BI Tools (Tableau, Power BI, WebFOCUS, etc.), TIBCO WebFOCUS experience is a plus

Perks:

  • The opportunity to join a developing team driving data culture/literacy and data-driven decision making in an essential business industry
  • Personal development and continuing education encouraged and supported
  • Competitive benefits including health, dental & vision insurance; and 401k
  • Company wide emphasis on wellness, including work-life balance and fitness
  • On site cafeteria, fitness center, hot yoga room, instructed sessions for Crossfit, Yoga, Interval Training
  • Hybrid work schedule optional after training and onboarding; 4 days in office and 1 day remote

Due to the collaborative nature of the work environment, the spontaneous need for idea generation and execution, and the potential for expedited remediations, responses, or information gathering, in-person, in-office attendance is an essential function of this position.
