Position - Business Intelligence Analyst - Early Warning Response (EWRS) Coordinator Location - Accountability & Quality Assurance Department *Application Deadline - Until Filled *Effective Reporting Date - 8/28/2026 Salary Range - Level J 65,415 - 114,476 Length of Service - Permanent (245 days annually) (On-site, not a remote position) Major Responsibilities: (1) Lead and execute the day-to-day implementation of the business intelligence and early warning response systems to include data structuring and modeling, data reporting, visualizations, validations, communication and collaboration; (2) provide on-time delivery and support for managing, organizing, planning, designing, implementing, collecting, testing, monitoring, expanding, updating, troubleshooting, and reporting activities associated with all aspects of data, reports, dashboards, performance indicators, KPIs; (3) maintain integrity, security, quality, and accuracy of data and related processes; (4) communicate insights, findings, project status and updates clearly and timely; (5) create and actualize dashboards, reports, and visualizations; (6) work cooperatively and build/maintain effective relationships with personnel across schools and agencies; (7) ensure quality by developing, executing, analyzing, evaluating, and re-designing, as necessary, processes, procedures, programs, and products related to the Oracle Analytics Server and related tools and applications; (8) stay abreast of current national, state, and local developments in data management and utilization and business intelligence for continuous improvement; (9) utilize a variety of tools including quality, project management, application and others to effectively and efficiently complete activities/tasks; and (10) perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Accountability and Quality Assurance. Qualifications: PREFERRED: Five or more years of advanced experience with SQL and reporting tools; Experience working in the U.S. education sector; Successful experience with Oracle OBIEE and/or OAS, Snowflake data warehouse, Essbase and Oracle WebLogic Application Server; Experience implementing the OBIEE and/or OAS at the physical, business model, and presentation layers; Experience with educational data systems such as student information systems (PowerSchool); Certification at Six Sigma Green Belt or higher; Oracle trained and certification in OBIEE, OAS, or Database TECHNICAL REQUIRED (On Day 1): (1) Earned Bachelor's degree; (2) Advanced understanding of and proficiency in T-SQL or PL/SQL, (3) Thorough understanding and use of Git source code repository for version control and deployment of all MS SQL Server objects, including required basic Git check-in/check-out operations; (4) Sound knowledge and skills in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) client software combined with the APEX and Red Gate SQL toolset plugins that make up the primary SQL development environment; (5) Firm knowledge and use of a project management platform to track server object deployments coordinated with ETS (currently YouTrack Agile; experience with the Atlassian JIRA product is a good substitute); (6) Understanding and use of Gitlab for code review; and (7) Understanding and use of Python scripting, PowerShell or other windows scripting languages with the ability to write complex SQL queries and demonstrated understanding and executing of the following, to name a few: UNION vs UNION ALL NULL handling: COALESCE & Native NULL handling Subqueries: IN, EXISTS, and inline views Subqueries: Correlated WITH syntax: Subquery Factoring/CTE Views Functions, Stored Procedures, Packages Pivoting data: CASE & PIVOT syntax Hierarchical Queries Recursive Queries Cursors: Implicit and Explicit Materialized Views CTEs (Common Table Expressions) UDFs (User Defined Functions) Stored procedure creation and usage Joins (inner and outer) and how to correctly use GROUP BY Query Optimization: Indexes; Explain Plans; Profiling (reading query plans, knowing what's intrinsically slow etc.) Data Modeling: Normal Forms, 1 through 3; Primary & Foreign Keys; Table Constraints Design expertise: defining tables, what to index, type of indexes Performance tuning expertise in general Performance evaluation/tuning Knowledge of efficient (and inefficient) ways of querying (understanding how certain choices can affect performance, e.g., using functions in WHERE clauses) (8) Ability to immediately perform Windows system administration tasks, including service restarts, log file exploration, file backups, management of application permissions through Role Based Access Control (RBAC), and basic server and application performance monitoring; (9) Sound troubleshooting skills, logic and execution in basic network issues like AD/LDAP failures, HTTP application errors, and database connectivity issues; (10) significant, successful experience independently developing custom analytics and reports; (11) proficient working with large data sets and data warehouses; (12) successful experience conducting independent quality assurance/auditing activities such as data validation and testing prior to using collaborative QA processes/tools; (13) able to design, develop, document, and support ETL/ELT integrations including accommodating frequently changing delimited and fixed-width file formats by reading a file format specification, evaluating whether provided files match the specification, and suggesting alterations if drift occurs in order to accommodate test loading efforts; (14) Create, record, and maintain documentation of work (code and technical); (15) Able to design, develop, document, and support ETL/ELT integrations; create, record, and maintain documentation of work (code and technical); (16) impeccable record of maintaining data security and compliance; (17) Able to communicate effectively in English with users to determine requirements and translate functional requirements into technical requirements.
