Full Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Business Data Analyst to support a major system and data platform modernization initiative within a commercial P&C insurance environment. The role will bridge legacy systems and modern cloud-hosted platforms by working with business stakeholders to understand existing processes, ensure data continuity, support data transformation activities, and identify opportunities for operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, proficiency in SQL and data visualization, and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

Key Responsibilities:
• Partner with business SMEs to analyze and document current-state data processes and data usage across legacy platforms.
• Analyze changes in data structures and attribute values between legacy and modern platforms and communicate impacts to end users.
• Support data mapping and reconciliation activities, including translating legacy data attributes to new platform schemas.
• Create reverse mappings where legacy systems continue to be used during the transition.
• Serve as a liaison between data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with functional requirements.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency throughout the modernization initiative.
• Advise business users on best practices for leveraging new data assets and tools.
• Help business SMEs design and execute interim workflows that support accurate and efficient business operations across legacy and modern platforms.
• Contribute to reference data management documentation and support data governance activities.
• Help ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity throughout the transition.
• Collaborate with business intelligence teams to adapt or redesign reports and dashboards to support the new data architecture.
• Support change management activities associated with data, system, and process modernization.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree preferably in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
• Ability to analyze complex data structures, business processes, and data dependencies.
• Ability to communicate technical data concepts and impacts effectively to business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of the insurance domain, preferably commercial P&C insurance.
• Experience with legacy financial systems and enterprise data warehouses.
• Exposure to Agile project environments and change management methodologies.
• Knowledge of data cataloging and metadata management tools.
• Familiarity with modern data platforms or data lakehouses, including Microsoft Fabric.
