Business Analyst to support complex application modernization initiatives within a large enterprise human services environment. The role will focus on improving business processes, gathering and documenting requirements, supporting system design and testing, and coordinating effectively between business stakeholders and technical teams. Candidates should have strong business analysis experience, excellent communication skills, and proven success supporting large-scale IT development projects to secure an interview.
Must Haves - At least 4 years of professional IT experience, including business analysis or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of direct Business Analyst experience supporting large-scale IT system development projects.
- Hands-on experience conducting requirements elicitation and analysis with business stakeholders and end users.
- Ability to create clear business and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, workflows, specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Experience participating in software testing, including integration, regression, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and the software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational, analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
What the Client Needs You to Do The successful candidate will bridge business needs and technology solutions throughout application modernization initiatives. You will work with stakeholders to understand current processes, identify gaps and improvement opportunities, define requirements, and help translate business objectives into practical system solutions. The role will also contribute to testing, implementation, training, vendor evaluation, and project documentation while helping ensure delivered applications meet business expectations for quality, reliability, and completeness.
Key Responsibilities - Participate in solution design and prototyping sessions focused on improving business operations, processes, and information flows.
- Analyze existing processes and system capabilities to identify gaps, improvement opportunities, and functional requirements.
- Develop workflow diagrams, process models, specifications, and other documentation that clearly communicate proposed solutions.
- Facilitate requirements discussions with business stakeholders, community users, subject matter experts, and technology teams.
- Document business requirements, functional requirements, use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and related technical materials.
- Serve as a communication bridge between business users and IT teams throughout the project life cycle.
- Identify potential risks, scope changes, dependencies, and issues, and communicate concerns to project leadership.
- Develop, coordinate, and execute testing plans, test scenarios, and validation criteria.
- Perform or support integration, regression, and User Acceptance Testing to verify application functionality and business requirements.
- Validate that new or enhanced services meet expected standards for quality, reliability, completeness, and usability.
- Develop or coordinate implementation plans, training materials, user guides, and operational documentation.
- Assist with evaluating technology platforms and vendor solutions against documented business and functional requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, testers, vendors, and business teams to resolve requirements and implementation issues.
- Adapt priorities and working approaches as project, operational, or production requirements evolve.
