Full Job Description
The Business Analyst (BA) should be proficient in analyzing business needs, identifying problems, and proposing solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness. They need strong communication, analytical, and technical skills to bridge the gap between business and technology, collaborating with stakeholders to implement changes and drive successful outcomes. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to analyze complex information is essential.

Expectation
  1. Ability to write a complete Jira ticket
  1. Follow format
  1. Complete all required fields
  1. Correctly insert into a the DSF ticket hierarchy
  1. Ability to write an accurate Jira ticket
  1. Not just what the stakeholder asked for, but an analysis of the request, its impact on the existing system, problem solving, evaluation of better solutions, identifying questions and evaluating answers to them and how that fits in with the requirement
  1. Trouble shooting/analyses of issues as they arise
  1. Understand the system, project purpose and goal, the bigger picture
  1. Ask questions if unsure; don't just do as much as you can then ask me to review and complete the ticket
  1. Clear communication of requirements and proposed solution(s) to stakeholders
  1. Design slide deck that covers all pertinent aspects of the project, process modeling, impact on other parts of the system and how that will be handled
  1. Ability to discuss alternative solutions and impact during discussion with stakeholder as they raise questions/comments. Understanding how the system, its business rules and its processing currently works as well as what future needs have been identified
  1. Timely completion of tasks
  1. Understanding of how long it should take to complete a task, knowing it's priority
  1. Perform peer reviews on team members' tasks
  1. Support development and testing processes
  1. Provide answers to developer and tester questions and update tickets if the information was missing from the initial ticket
  1. Actively take part in the testing process to ensure the end result satisfies the initial requirement and agreed-upon solution as interpretation of tickets can vary.
  1. Create deliverables as needed
  1. CRD, RTM, Baseline Requirements Document, Release Plan
  1. Tasks Management
  1. Follow a process to keep track of own tasks, so that others don't have to remind you of open tasks
  1. When all tasks are completed, be pro-active on upcoming tasks, reach out to team members with requests for more tasks, even members outside of BA
  1. Determine value-added improvements to the system and processes that can be discussed with the team.
  1. Provide input when the team is discussing solutions
  1. Handle CUI information appropriately, as explained in annual training from DOD and ECS


  • Communication and Facilitation: Explaining complex technical insights to executive leaders while translating business goals into precise instructions for developers.


  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Assessing available information, uncovering root causes of operational issues, and evaluating alternative solutions.


  • Stakeholder Management: Building relationships, negotiating between conflicting interests, and guiding teams through transitions.


BA or experience equivalent.
