The City of Mississauga is seeking a highly motivated analyst to help guide economic development strategy, business growth initiatives, and investment attraction efforts in one of Canada's largest and most dynamic cities.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Supervisor, Economic Analysis & Program Development in the Economic Development Division, the successful candidate will:
- Advance economic research and analysis to inform strategic initiatives related to investment attraction, identifying emerging growth opportunities, supporting local business competitiveness, and strengthening entrepreneurship.
- Analyze and communicate the local economic relevance of key business, investment, real estate, and labour market trends.
- Develop and maintain databases and business information materials.
- Provide project leadership and/or contribute to strategic studies, program development, divisional resourcing, funding applications, and feasibility studies.
- Lead and/or contribute to internal and external stakeholder engagement initiatives and special projects.
- Represent the division on internal and external committees and working groups.
- Respond to ad hoc information requests from internal and external stakeholders, including Council members, City leadership, and industry partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Skills and Qualifications- Completed post-secondary degree/diploma in Business, Economics, Economic Development, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Data Analytics or related field of study
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience required
- Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and complete projects successfully.
- Exceptional qualitative and quantitative research and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize complex and diverse sources of information to generate actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Proven ability to communicate research findings through charts, tables, graphs, presentations, and written reports.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, with the ability to quickly learn and leverage new analytical tools and technologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of market, business, entrepreneurship, and economic development trends and drivers as they relate to municipal economies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving abilities, innovative thinking, political acuity, diplomacy, and commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 91,701.00 - $ 122,268.00
