What You'll Do: ODH is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as the Bureau Chief. This critical leadership role oversees managers and staff responsible for statewide and local emergency preparedness, planning, and response activities.
As a key member of the agency's leadership team, The Bureau Chief will collaborate with fellow bureau chiefs and executive leadership to advance the agency's mission of promoting and protecting the health and well-being of all Ohioans.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide strategic direction and oversight to managers and staff within BHP.
- Lead operational planning and coordination for statewide and local emergency events.
- Cultivate an environment of engagement, positivity, and accountability across the bureau.
- Collaborate with agency leadership to ensure alignment with organization goals, statutory requirements, and public health best practices.
- Serve as a visible, effective leader during critical incidents, ensuring clarity of communication, operational excellence, and strong team performance.
- Represent the bureau and agency in internal and external forums to support preparedness initiatives.

Qualifications- 6 yrs. exp. in planning & administering health program(s).
-Or - Completion of graduate core program in field of public health, health administration, preventive medicine, social work, nursing or other health-related field or public policy & management/public administration or business administration; AND 3 yrs. exp. in planning & administering health program(s).
-Or - 12 mos. exp. as Health Planning Administrator 3, 65247.
-Or - 2 yrs. exp. as Health Planning Administrator 2, 65246. Note: applicants for any bureau chief position in Ohio Department of Health must satisfy qualifications cited in Chapter 37 of Administrative Code for particular bureau for which application is being made.
-Or - Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above
