Full Job Description
Building Systems Project Manager to join our Planning, Design & Construction team. In this role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and infrastructure projects across our historic campus. Projects range from $10,000 tasks to complex $2 million initiatives. You will oversee every phase of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and budgeting through design, construction, and final closeout, while collaborating closely with campus stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors.

Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning & Budgeting: Engage in early-stage project development to ensure alignment with strategic institutional goals. Establish project scopes, timelines, and budgets while prioritizing operational needs, lifecycle sustainability, and environmental standards. Procure and manage external architects and engineers, reviewing documentation to ensure adherence to campus specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Execution & Contract Administration: Supervise General Contractors and Construction Managers. Oversee scheduling (CPM), cost control, contract administration, and inspections to guarantee that workmanship meets College standards. Manage permitting processes, coordinate college-managed components (like relocations and abatement), and direct all commissioning, testing, and training for a seamless hand-off to the operations teams.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent formal training/experience.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in project management, construction supervision, design, or engineering fields specifically focused on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems is required, at least 5 years is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Office Professional, and MS Project.
  • Deep familiarity with building codes, construction materials, and design/construction methodologies.
  • Strong contract administration, risk mitigation, and financial budgeting skills are required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively and clearly communicate with a wide range of audiences, including internal staff, contractors, and consultants to ensure project alignment and safety.
  • The ability to navigate complex interdepartmental dynamics, resolve conflict professionally, and negotiate value-driven solutions for the institution.


Preferred Qualification:
  • A LEED AP credential is highly desirable.


Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
  • This position operates in a fast-paced administrative office environment but requires regular visits to active construction sites, open campus spaces, and support areas (mechanical/electrical rooms).
  • Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts with possible exposure to changing outdoor weather conditions and hazards associated with building demolition and construction.
  • Some evening, holiday, or weekend work may be required to support urgent facilities projects or emergencies.
  • Must possess the physical stamina to walk/stand for extended periods, climb ladders or scaffolding, work on rooftops, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
