Full Job Description
Salary range: An annual salary range of $80,000 - $90,000 is what we expect to pay for this position, based on overall skills and experience.

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future, to be considered.

What You'll Do:

The BSA OFAC Associate reports to the OFAC Subject Matter Experts and supports the Bank's sanctions compliance program by monitoring, investigating, and resolving alerts generated through OFAC and sanctions screening systems. This role ensures the Bank's compliance with the regulations administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), as well as other applicable sanctions regimes, and helps mitigate the Bank's exposure to sanctions-related risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and disposition daily sanctions escalations generated by OFAC/sanctions screening software (e.g., customer onboarding, wire transfers, ACH, and other transaction screening)
  • Conduct research to determine whether an alert represents a true match, false positive, or potential true match requiring escalation
  • Document investigation findings clearly and consistently in case management systems
  • Escalate confirmed or suspected matches to senior compliance staff for further review and potential filing of blocked/rejected transaction reports with OFAC
  • Assist with maintaining and updating sanctions screening lists and watchlist parameters
  • Support periodic look-back reviews and quality control testing of the sanctions screening program
  • Assist in the preparation of internal reports, metrics, and management updates related to sanctions alert volumes and trends
  • Stay current on OFAC regulations, global sanctions program updates, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices, including developments across applicable U.S., United Nations, European Union, United Kingdom, and other relevant sanctions regimes
  • Assist with training materials or sessions for staff on sanctions compliance topics
  • Collaborate with BSA/AML, Fraud, and Legal teams on cross-functional investigations


Analytics-Enabled Controls
  • Leverage data analytics tools to identify patterns, error trends, emerging risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement
  • Use AI-driven insights to support continuous monitoring, detect anomalies, and identify root causes behind recurring deficiencies
  • Validate outputs from automated monitoring systems, including rules, workflows, and AI-enabled detection models, to ensure accuracy and reliability


Collaboration & Governance
  • Work with internal teams to address QC findings, remediate control weaknesses, and strengthen process adherence
  • Support internal and external audits through documentation preparation, walkthroughs, and coordination of data requests
  • Participate in testing and validation of first- and second-line control activities, ensuring alignment with regulatory, risk, and policy requirements
  • Maintain and update QC procedures, testing guides, and policy documentation, including changes related to new analytics or automation tools


What Do You Need?
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in BSA/AML, OFAC/Sanctions compliance, or related financial crimes role (banking or financial services preferred)
  • Working knowledge of OFAC regulations, SDN List, sanctions programs, and related regulatory guidance
  • Ability to manage a high volume of alerts within established timeframes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and the ability to interpret data and identify root causes
  • Proven ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team environment


Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Haves)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, criminal justice, or related field
  • Certifications such as ACAMS, CGSS (Certified Global Sanctions Specialist), or other sanctions-related credentials
  • Familiarity with, or interest in learning, automation/AI-assisted monitoring tools as part of ongoing process improvement efforts
  • Working knowledge of non-U.S. sanctions regimes, including United Nations, European Union, United Kingdom, and other applicable global sanctions programs


Technology Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with sanctions screening software, preferably LexisNexis Bridger Insight XG and Verafin
  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools that support productivity, workflow efficiency, and client engagement
