Are you passionate about live broadcast technology and ready to take ownership of high-stakes system reliability? Join Advanced Systems Group as a Broadcast Systems Reliability Engineer and play a key role in supporting a world-class media facility's mission-critical operations.

What You'll Do:
  • Spearhead preventative maintenance for complex live broadcast and AV systems, keeping them at optimal health and readiness
  • Be the hero who diagnoses and resolves technical faults-across all layers, ensuring seamless operations
  • Develop and manage configuration backups and equipment baselines for critical systems
  • Schedule and execute system maintenance around a dynamic live broadcast calendar-your efforts keep live productions running
  • Document and maintain detailed service histories, run-books, and a standing maintenance calendar
  • Ensure organized, clean, and efficient machine room infrastructure and cabling
  • Troubleshoot and perform service restoration for SDI, IP media (ST 2110, Dante, AES67) systems, and supporting infrastructure
  • Apply rigorous, systematic testing to isolate problems from application through physical layer
  • Own case resolution with manufacturers-drive issues through to successful outcomes and manage vendor relationships
  • Produce clear incident reports and documentation, empowering operational teams to resolve or avoid common issues
  • Identify patterns and develop remediation projects to increase reliability and reduce recurring issues
  • Scope and support integration and remediation projects, working alongside client engineers and system integrators
  • Stay connected with staff, vendors, and manufacturers to ensure alignment on system health and maintenance
  • Travel to facility sites (as needed) to ensure full system support across locations

Required Qualifications:
  • Deep broadcast engineering experience with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex live systems from application layer through physical layer.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both baseband and IP media: ST 2110, Dante, and AES67.
  • Strong, repeatable testing and fault-isolation methodology.
  • Proven live-environment discipline; ability to work safely where equipment cannot be taken offline arbitrarily, with clear understanding of coordinated downtime and on-air safety.
  • Strong technical writing skills; able to produce incident reports, MOPs, and user-facing guides.
  • Strong communication skills with peer operational staff and with manufacturers during case resolution.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle; ability to travel across the LA metro area between client sites.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to perform in-situ Layer 1 repairs for common cable types (CAT-6A, 12G SDI, single-pair audio, and similar) without calling out to an integrator.
  • Experience scoping integration and remediation projects for management approval.
  • Experience with Providius and Bridge Technologies monitoring tools.
  • Working knowledge of Lawo Power Core and UHD Core DSP configuration, operation, and troubleshooting.

Competencies:
  • Comprehensive technical proficiency across a live broadcast technology stack including SDI, SMPTE ST 2110, Dante, AES67, PTP timing, NMOS control, camera robotics, broadcast cameras, LED walls, and vision mixers.
  • Ability to work largely autonomously in a live production environment, managing competing maintenance priorities without displacing operational safety.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority; comfortable recommending process improvements and reliability fixes to operational teams and client engineering leads without making decisions outside the defined scope of this role.
  • Proactive and systems-oriented thinker, able to identify latent risk and recurring failure patterns before they impact productions.
  • Strong written communication skills with consistent documentation discipline across maintenance records, incident reports, run-books, and MOPs.
  • Organized and accountable in managing vendor relationships, open cases, maintenance windows, and asset condition records.
  • Collaborative cross-functional partner able to coordinate effectively with operational staff, client engineering, integrators, and manufacturers.

Position Details:
  • Regular Full-Time
  • On-site at Culver City, CA (primary site); occasional travel to secondary locations
  • On-call and after-hours availability required as needed
  • Must be able to commute to work on-site; valid driver's license and personal vehicle required
