Full Job Description
Responsibilities

The Braze Specialist will be responsible for developing, documenting, and monitoring brazing and heat treatment processes for components in our manufacturing facility. This includes furnace brazing and vacuum brazing, as well as various heat treatment processes such as solution treatment, stabilization, diffusion, precipitation hardening & aging, and stress relief for alloys like aluminum, stainless steel, and Inconel.

The Braze Specialist will work with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams, as well as workers on the manufacturing floor, to troubleshoot and improve brazing processes. This role will focus on increasing the consistency and yield of brazing by studying processes and products before, during, and after brazing. This role will also be involved in some metallurgical work, including identifying samples for on-site lab review to resolve potential issues such as corrosion, incipient melting, maintaining heat levels and increasing the strength of our products.

  • Develop and document brazing and heat treatment processes, including root cause analysis of deviations from critical process specifications to resolve brazing-related issues.
  • Educate and train workers on proper procedures and processes, including creating and updating work instructions and training materials.
  • Monitor brazing performance (rework/yield) to ensure targets are met.
  • Use established process management tools, control plans, and CPK monitoring to improve process outcomes.
  • Develop best practices for production quality, reliability, and capacity.
  • Create and implement improved preventative maintenance programs to enhance current processes.
  • Support heat treatment and braze processes to maintain NADCAP certifications.
  • Lead braze process development, including trials, documentation (work instructions, brazing specifications, qualification records), and process qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with vacuum brazing for both reconditioning existing parts and brazing new parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work process instructions.
  • Working knowledge of heat treatment and brazing processes, particularly in aerospace components.
  • Knowledge of commercial brazing and heat treatment specifications, e.g. AMS 2675 (Nickel alloy brazing), AMS 2750 (pyrometery), AMS 2770 (HT aluminum), AWS C3.7 (aluminum brazing), & AWS B2.2 (brazing procedure and performance qualification).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and assist, educate, and train others.
  • Functional knowledge of NDT processes (penetrant, radiography, magnetic particle, and/or ultrasonic testing).
  • Ability to use hand tools and inspection gauges.
  • Consistent compliance with safety and health regulations, including respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs, if applicable.
  • Must meet FAA requirements for a "safety-sensitive" position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent years of pertinent experience.
  • Due to our role as a key supplier to the U.S. defense industry, all employees must be authorized to work in the U.S. permanently.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 + years' experience with vacuum brazing and metallurgical lab experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Vacuum brazing of stainless steel and aluminum, preferably heat exchangers or similar product with varying detail part thicknesses.
  • Tool design experience for braze fixtures.

Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage with plan options that provide flexibility and choice (including telehealth options)
  • Healthcare spending accounts
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid/flexible time off in addition to paid company holidays
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Disability and life insurance
  • Incentives and performance-based rewards
  • Exciting growth and development opportunities empowered by our TRIUMPH Transformation and an entrepreneurial environment that encourages innovation and creativity
